Does a Flatmod chip work on a GC2-D1 drive

my wii is ver 3.1 i put the flatmod chip in and it plays regular games but when i put a back up in it just ejects the disk i even put the config disk in and it ejected that one too i checked my region settings and they are correct (the first pin is up and the second pin is down) if anybody knows why this isnt working or have any suggestions for me it would be a big help. Thanks everybody
