Looking to be able to play backups and snes games.

What is the best/easiest method to do this? Drivekey seems like a good options, since it's very easy. Can one play games via harddrive or SD card using Drivekey, or just via softmod?

What are the pros and cons of each? Thank you in advance for any info. By the way, I find this forum to be great...lots of very helpful people and a good atmosphere!

ModChips are a waste of money when you can just softmod it and get almost the same output.

The pro of having a softmod is

1. Saving Cash
2. Not having the trouble to order it online and opening the Wii to install it.
3. More easier and less time consuming

The Con

All the opposite

So, the softmod will allow one to do everything that a modchip can do?

Is the softmod "future proof"? Meaning that will it always work on future games? Are there any known games that the softmod will not work for?

I belive the softmod can "almost" (I believe...Correct me if im wrong) can achieve everything a modchip can. Obviously i am more than satisfied using softmods because i can play games off my hard drive. And softmods allow you to do more things than a modchip could. Such as homebrew apps. I never had a modchip before...so i wouldnt know really.

Well using the USB, you will need homebrew. So you might as well save cash and not buy a Drivekey.

Here I'll make it simple for you.

Using a Drivekey will enable you to play backup Wii games using the "Disc Channel" and that is it.

In order to use an USB drive or SD to play games, you will need to install homebrew, now if you are going to do all those steps to install homebrew and USB loader, you might as well install Neogamma which plays backup games on DVD's

So, if you have a "backup disc channel" then why do you need to use Drivekey?

In the future who knows for either one, odds are yes Nintendo will try to fight these, but Drivekey is a hardware. If Nintendo finds a block for a hardware that means you will have to wait until the company (drivekey) finds another loop and you need to buy a new one.

Soft modded users, someone with a brain who knows codes will hack it and post the updated software for us online....for free.

1) Backup Launcher is old. Neogamma is new http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=158884
1A) to get the Neogamma Channel http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=165485
2) Superdump (Requires homebrew) dump your game in 30 minutes. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/780900
3) Make your Wii skip updates! Use preloader 0.29 and enable skip updates. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Preloader
4) Scared of Bricking your Wii? Make an NAND backup! Install BootMii http://bootmii.org/install/
