Please can anyone advise if there is a DVD available that holds more than 4.7GB.
I've downloaded several Wii games and most of them are more than 4.7GB when they are unzipped. So, I assume that I need a higher capacity DVD. Or, is there a clever way to burn them to a 4.7GB?

There are ways to rip games and burn to dvd..Convert the game to ISO format and then you can easily burn it in a 4gb dvd.

There are only two Wii games that generate an .iso that is more than 4.7GB.

A standard Wii .iso is 4,699,979,776 bytes anything (larger) else is invalid.

I have NEVER, EVER seen a Wii .iso more than 4.7GB except for SSBB and Metroid Prime Trilogy.

How are you extracting the files? As alluded by dailun, there are only two known Wii games that require DVD9. There must be something you're doing wrong.

Many thanks for your replies!
I unfortunately deleted the games above 4.7GB in bitter disappointment. However, I do remember that one was 'Mario & Sonic at the Winter Games'? Anyway, as pryme_H suggested, I must have been doing something wrong. I download them using Bitcomet and simply 'unziped' them using WinZip. I then (used to) import them into PowerISO & try to burn them...without success!
HOWEVER, I?ve now downloaded ImgBurn and appeared to successfully burn my very first game! But my Wii machine could not read it.
Please advise if there is something that should be done to my machine before it will recognize copied games. Eg chip it or load some other software etc?

You have to mod your Wii to run backup games, period.

Softmod or hardmod, your choice.

I can almost guarantee you tried Iso'ing the whole package including the .nfo files and 'downloaded from' txt file and whatever else came down with the torrent. Most games you download will not need putting through an iso maker bud.
