DVD ROM DRIVE FAULTY? GDR-8162B

Hi all

I bought a GDR-8162B IDE DVD rom drve and i am using RawDump 20. but every time i click start dump i get an error message which says "Error!! you might have a faulty drive" My Question before i take my new drive outside and burn it is do i have to update the firmware on the DVD Drive b4 it will read my Wii games or have i just bought a dud drive? it only cost me £6 quid off ebay second hand so not really arsed either way but would be nice to no!

Never used one myself, but I do hear they can be tempremental at times. Try if you havent already-closing the draw on the drive after the program has opened, then click start.
Alternatively you can install usb loader GX and copy games straight from your console to your external HDD-or you can try superdump through the HB channel. Info and download links are in my sig

I've heard that those drives have to be on certain firmware for them to work. I can't say for sure since the 3 I've owned all worked without changing the firmware. Research it a bit and if you find that your current firmware isn't one that's listed as compatible then try changing it.
