If i format the wii will it wipe out all the firmware updates and go back to the original firmware and still be able to play genuine games??

No, it will just delete all your game saves and downloaded or installed channels. Formatting the system memory doesn't effect the firmware at all.

friends sons wii was 4.2 running neogamma he updated to 4.3 and crying his wii don't work like it did, i downgraded it got homebrew channel back on it can do everything but get a backup launcher to work. really stuck anyone

did you reinstall IOS249? HBC runs off an untouched IOS.

Downgrading was totally unnecessary. You just needed to reinstall HBC and reinstall your cIOS's.
