there is no way to play gamecube games off a hdd. all usb loaders are strictly for wii games only.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

In Larry's guide, towards the end there are some optional steps, one of which adds gamecube support. But uou need to play them from disks, so if you have one of the new wii's that cant read burned disks then you cant play gamecube backups currently.

.

That's a limitation with the soft-mod's. But that's all changed now that WODE has arrived.

With Wode, you can play Wii and GC backups off a USB HDD or Memory Stick.

Wode doesn't require any soft-modding, so you don't need to stuff around with bastardising your CIOS files. And consequently, there's no risk of bricking your Wii.

and yet, you have to open the system, and buy another thing.

Yes.

But there's no soldering required.

It's a fairly straightforward DIY installation, just watch one of the video tutorials beforehand.

it's a diffferent iso. just because it's an iso doesn't mean it's all the same.

the wii will switch to gamecube mode when the disc is inserted. it shuts down the wii, including the softmod. if you have cMIOS installed, you can run gamecube backups IF you have a drive that can read backups in the first place.

No, GC games cannot be copied to the external drive. You'll need to back it up via a different method. LG drives and rawdump work, as will a dump from the wii to your PC via wifi.

Once you get an iso you burn it with imgburn and then play it from the disk. Follow larry's guide for instructions on how to do that. But barring hardware mods like the WODE, that is the only way to play GC games on your wii currently.
