GCN Action Replay with Soft-Modded Wii

I have a gamecube action replay. It worked fine with my gamecube games. Now I have a 4.2u modded wii and when I put in the action replay (it is a retail AR) it just says there is an error and to consult the manual. I can play retail and backup gamecube and wii games just fine. Anyone know how I can fix this, or an alternative to cheat with gamecube games?
