Googling Wii Update

I have tried googling a lot but not found a simple answer to my problem.

I have got a new Wii machine modded with a chip.

I have been warned that going to INTERNET will auto update the system EVENM IF I DO NOT CHOOSE TO UPDATE...the update will run in background.

So i should never goto internet.

From reading some of the forum topics, I gather this is not true.

Can someone tell me.... WILL WII AUTOUPDATE MY SSYSTEM IN BACKGROUND IF I CONNECT TO INTERNET EVEN IF I SAY NO TO UPDATES?

Nintendo reserves the right to update your system without your permission under the new User Agreement.

At this time they have never automatically updated the systems. They have always gave you the option to update. So some say it is safe to do it but of course Nintendo has the right to do it without your permission any time in the future.

I myself go online.

i always have my wiiconnect24 online, and nintendo has done NOTHING; it's still at 4.1U, and yet, i can still go into the shop channel since i have installed the latest version.
