I have a wiikey (1) installed in my wii and worked perfectly until i added a softmod to ripp my games with usbloader. Now the softmod no longer works with some of my NTSC games and none of my PAL verison games and none of my gamecube back ups work either. Any help to restore my wiikey?

Just sell the chip and run them softmodded. GUIDE For running from the disc channel.

Last thing I would do is ditch the chip. I love my modchip, I have a D2Pro9 V3. I don't have to wait for new cIOS to come out for newer games, just pop it right in and it works. No matter what anybody says, modchips will always have better support over softmodding.

yea, use to get way more support through my chip than i have gotten through the softmod. I really wish to get this to work. I just got to the point where it loads the wiikey update/config 1.9 discs but when it gets to the actual installation page it says "error reading disk" even though it read it enough to load the menu..

What more support do you need for a Wiikey 1?

I am on 1.9s and haven't found anything yet that I can't play.

Well, that's not Wiikey's fault, is it?

The Wiikey does what it's supposed to do, and does it quite well.

You can always install the "power to the chip manual disable mod".

i dont want to disable the wiikey though. I am still trying to figure out a way to just have that run. I think cios that i had installed may have had a big part to do with it but i have been installing the regular ios with dop ios and to no sign of improvement.

I didn't read the post thoroughly.

If I understand correctly, your backup discs can be played, but not through the disc channel.

I don't know of anyone who has softmodded a Wiikey modded Wii (have no interest in it myself) so I'm afraid I'm not much more help.

I don't see why this should make a difference. Have you tried a pressed original?

It shouldn't make a difference. Allot of users have Softmod and Hardmod systems and they work along side each other 100%.

I think something else is up with the Modchip. Make sure everything is installed properly still.

Also a little more info would be helpful.

Like what firmware are you on? Did you update the system to 4.0 to install the cIOS? Do you use multi-game GameCube backup disc?

Right now i am running system 3.3U on my wii. I haven't used any multi gamecube discs (and i'm not sure what a pressed original is sorry dailun). I don't think the modchip is bad because all games (as dvds) work with backup loaders in homebrew. I have reason to believe it has to do with the IOS installations but that is just my best educated guess. I downloaded 4.0 (through nintendo update) and all my backups show up in the disc channel. They don't play, just black screen with "an error has occured" (my guess is trucha maybe?) but when i did a firmware downgrade to 3.3 they didn't read anymore in the disc channel but still work in gecko os.

DUH of course they will work when running through a backup loader. It doesn't mean your Modchip is working. You could yank that Modchip out and still load games through the backup loader.

As I said before make sure the Modchip is installed properly still. if the Modchip is working properly then you should have no issues booting the DVD backups from the normal disc channel.

I don't know if it will make much of a difference. But you could try updating to 4.0 and then run IOS Downgrader to downgrade and patch all IOS for Trucha Exploit.

And a pressed original is a retail Wii disc that you bought in the store.

Just for information....

I have an original wiikey chip 1.9g on a wii with version 3.2u and I followed the New and Improved Softmod guide and it worked fine. All games still load like normal without using a backup launcher, or with using the launcher, either way. Also USB loader and all other homebrew and wads I have installed work fine still.

I also did this on a virgin wii, and a wii with a D2C key installed. Again, all worked fine with the following exceptions.

We had a 2gb lexar micro sd that worked fine for everything but loading bootmii. Had to switch to a kingston for bootmii to load. Yes it was installed as boot 2 but would not load using the lexar memory card for some reason.

A few games here and there would not load via the USB loader but they were newer games and I assume future updates will correct that. The same games that dont load on usb loader play fine as burned backups.

The softmod guide worked great for us on the above mentioned chips for what it is worth.

I am very interested in this thread as I have a chip of some sort installed (got it done about 18months back and never use it) and I now want to play a backup of a game (Resident Evil-Archives:Resident Evil). I got an "#error 001" so I upgraded the firmware to 1.9s which seemed to work ok after multiple restarts.....but the iso still wont load...same eror. I am now thinking of trying a softmod, what do you guys think?
