never even heard of modmii. always did manual installs of each thing.

you have the bare necessities installed. you need to install a usb loader and a cIOS for IOS249. also need to have wifi enabled on the wii.

you will need to partition your external drive to have two partitions: a FAT32 partition set as primary, and a WBFS partition to store the wii games. i have been using that setup since the start of usb loaders and it works with NO problems. just install games to WBFS partition and done.

*MAKE SURE TO RUN AS ADMIN*
download the respectable one for your computer. when installed, on the drive list, choose the letter for the partition that is going to be storing the games. hit format, and let it do it's job. when done, close the manager.

download and run the installer from HBC. install IOS249 using IOS57 as base.

download the cfg60.dol and narolez's universal forwarder channel.
1. install the forwarder with HBC and wad manager.

2. on the FAT32 partition of the hard drive, create an "apps" folder. inside of the apps folder, create a "usbloader" folder. place the cfg60.dol in the usbloder folder, and rename it to boot.dol

when all of that is done, all you basically do is plug in the external drive to the right usb port (when looking at the back)/bottom usb port (when wii is placed vertically), and run the forwarder channel. configurable usb loader should load.

if it does load, put in the original game disc and press + on the wiimote to install it. continue to do that for all of the games you want to install, then press 2 on the wiimote twice to bring up the global options. you will be able to download covers from there.

partitioning isn't necessary, but i can't guarantee anything from a single partition FAT32 drive. WBFS appealed to me since it was strictly designed for wii games; hasn't failed me at all. my drive is setup as 32GB primary FAT32 partition, and the rest is WBFS.

if you want to continue using the shop channel you'll need to update the shop channel to v20 with dop-shop.

and LU64+ aren't that much of a problem anymore. just don't downgrade.

i downloaded the right wbfs manager i hope the 301 x86 rw. I installed and opened program and selected drive and formatted the right lettered drive. But it made no partition. It said formatted successfully but it still says its a NTFS drive. Like i said this is brand new HDD. Just out of the box yesterday.

WBFS will format it ot a special format for the wii. I would suggest having a drive just for the wii. If you are on 3.4, I'd grab a copy of mario galaxy 2 and update to 4.2 with cios Rev 20. I'd use either the CFG usb loader or wiiflow. Both are good. Wiiflow looks better.

partition the drive so it's 32GB for FAT32, and the rest is WBFS. anything higher than 32GB will force windows to make it NTFS. there are ways to get the full drive to FAT32, but it's basically useless.

run diskmgmt.msc in windows. find the external drive and delete the volume. once deleted, create a new simple volume with a size of 32768. if windows won't create it in FAT32, go back and change the size to 32767.

when the FAT32 partition is done, mark it as active, then format the rest of the drive to NTFS then run WBFS manager to format the NTFS partition to WBFS.

couldnt get config usb loader to work cause it needed 222. I dont have that i guess so i used another on that was already on my wii i guess. Its called sd/usb loader v 1.4 tekno consoles.es

My hdd was fat32 formatted for modmii. When i started the sd ub loader is said there was no wfbs on it so i said to make a partition i believe i made the whole size 320 a wbfs parttion. Now im putting my back up on there is this a good idea? Or did i do wrong? Plz help.
i think i need a ios222 installer

Honestly, this is a waste of time. Just buy a drive you want to only use for the wii. They are cheap. There is no point to have FAT32 unless you want to store windows and wii files on the drive which is stupid. WBFS manager will read the drive to copy over games.

You still can. Just put the disc in and rip to the drive. You can do that with wiiflow or the CFG loader. WBFS manager is nice if you download the iso from a website onto your computer.

it's not. should i lose the sd card, i can still run configurable usb loader since i have it setup to boot off the FAT32 partition; wiiflow gives FAT32 usb priority over sd loading. covers are stored there too. updated versions can be switched anytime since the forwarder channel will always look in the same place, instead of using a full channel which is locked to one version until a new one is created.

AND i can load apps from the partition since more are being configured with usb loading.

the sd card is basically storing savefiles, bootmii, priiloader settings, and IOS wads. why you need a sdhc is beyond me; 2gigs is more than enough.

dont forget you can install your wiiware then move it to the sd card and play from there to save your wii memory yet still have hundreds of wiiwares
i recommend and 8gig sd card if you plan on doing that
