Can anyone help me upgrading my wii 4.0 to 2.2 firmware.Will be very grateful

If the wii can connect to the internet then update it that way. And you're done. That's it.

If you're running a softmod then you'll have to reinstall all that. You can follow this guide. http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=171901

You can also update off a disc, Endless Ocean 2 has 4.2, but you'll probably need to re-install your homebrew apps.

As has been said already, it is perfectly safe to update, but you will need to reinstall your softmod afterward.
