Homebrew Channel and WII Warranty???

I had homebrew channel on my wii (NO MOD CHIP INSTALLED) and this morning my son accidently did a system update. Now the Wii has a green powerup light and the black screen of death. Does the Homebrew CHannel VOID the waranty? I read somewhere that a mod chip voids the warranty but Homebrew does not because its software.....Just wondering my options if I send it back to nintendo for repair and they FIND homebrew on it.....

There is always a possibility they can detect Homebrew and not fix the system. In this case they would probably send it back saying you voided the warranty by installing homebrew on it. Then again they may just fix it with no questions asked.
