This tutorial will fix error -1035 on wii system menu 4.1
(may work for other system menu versions)
only tested on 4.1
What you need:
homebrew channel
network connection
(14.4MB)
SD files
or
(if first link doesn't work)
mirror link
Package Contains:
Anytitle Deleter
Trucha Bug Restorer
cIOS38_rev15-Installer
How to:
now you probably already have downgraded ios36 using ios15 but i will post the steps anyway
1. extract the rar file to your sd card
2.run Trucha Bug Restorer using the homebrew channel when it loads
press B on the wiimote and wait until the press 1 to continue message shows.
3.press 1 then goto downgrade ios15 and just click A to continue when it asks something.
4.reload Trucha Bug Restorer using ios15 goto ios36 menu
set everything to yes then select install patched iso36
5.then run Trucha Bug Restorer again using ios36 and downgrade
ios15
6.run Anytitle deleter using homebrew channel
7.navigate to delete system ios and delete ios249
(if ios249 is not there just skip this step)
8.run cIOS38_rev15-Installer using ios36 and select
network install
when trying to install wads or run homebrew
it is best to use ios249
now you should not get the -1035 error anymore
if you have any problems please just comment

This makes no sense at all.
You say to use IOS36 to use the cIOS38_rev15 installer.
Then you have them Trucha patch IOS36 at the last step.
If IOS36 is used to install cIOS38_rev15 then you will either...
1) Get an error because IOS36 has not been exploited with the Trucha Bug yet (in this case Trucha Bug Restorer needs to be performed before the cIOS38_rev15 installer step).
2) It will install properly (in this case IOS36 has already been exploited and the last step would be unnecessary).

It could be possible that those that have 4.2 firmware and IOS249 is stubbed could get this error message.
But most guides out there will have you delete IOS249 before trying to install a cIOS to it.
So reading and following the directions in the guide properly should have avoided the issue in the first place.

First i have to say thank you Larry because
your 4.1 and below Firmware Softmod Guide
is the guide that helped me mod my wii
Back to error -1035
maybe i just installed cIOS38_rev14 wrong
In your guide just said:
WARNING: If you get a ret- error please redownload the WAD files using NUS and redo steps Downgrade IOS15/Patch IOS36/Restore IOS15 (Also make sure your using a SD Card NOT Micro-SD with Adapter).
This did not solve the problem because the error was to do with
ios249
That is why i used any title deleter to delete ios249
I have found that you have helped a lot of people solve this error
ste105(All fixed now...Larry sorted me out
Seems a previous version of cios was installed before(i had homebrew beta 8 on it for over a year)
I just installed CIOS38_14 using IOS249 instead of IOS35 and its working fine now)
but i didn't find a actual tutorial that solved this error so i made one
i did find however that you used any title deleter in your 4.2 guide
I thank you larry, for writing your guides
and BTW as i said i have 4.1

There are probably multiple reasons you can get error -1035when installing a cIOS.
There is no vulnerable IOS.
IOS249 has been stubbed due to System menu 4.2 firmware.
You have the older cIOS37 installed which cIOS36 and cIOS38 can not install over.
