How to upgrade 3.4 to 4.2

Is there a way to upgrade my Wii from 3.4 to 4.2 without going to 4.3?

You can use a game with 4.2 system update like Super Mario Galaxy 2 .

i wouldnt recommend doing that rasta. A better method is use the safe update in homebrew to get to 4.2. Second would be to use 4.2 system menu.wad

If you use the game method your softmods will be deleted. Disc updating is only for 4.1 & under, or unless they want to delete all their softmods. Use the safe updater in The Homebrew Channel, installing the IOS & system menu WADs will also erase the softmods.

Can you please explain how this is done. I could not find the option in HBC . Thanks in advanced .

actually ive used the wads to install the system updates and all the softmods remain so I dont know what you are talking about. I have also downgrading using wads and no problems as well.

I know so because dop mod ios has all the ios / channels / firm ware files intact.

As for rasta your question. There is a homebrew app, look for it. google safe 4.2 update homebrew and install and put it in your apps folder. Otherwise look for the wad.

Ok like wanankokos 4.2 updater . I thought there was a option in HBC itself .

I upgrade my Wii from 3.4 to 4.2 yesterday using wanankokos 4.2 updater and didnt affect HBC or anything, I'll send u the link
