How to upgrade an already softmodded Wii

I only found this on one of the stickies and it was taken down so I'm a little confused. If my wii is already softmodded how do I update to the latest stuff? I am unsure of what I need to do so if someone could give me instructions I'd be really helpful.

If you need any information let me know all I know right now is that I'm running Neogamma R6 and that I softmodded this about 4 months ago during the summer so it hasn't been too long and I can't be too far behind.

Anyone able to help? I'm not sure whether I should follow all of the steps shown in the previous guides or not as I'm sure I've done some of these install IOS things and I've read and searched through here. I really could use some help on how to proceed on updating to firmware 4.1, if I even need to at all, and on what to install in order to make sure I'm up to date so I can play new games.
