Here is the the problem. I purchased a Wii in China that was pre-modded. I'm not sure if it is a soft mod or a hard mod. Is there any way to figure it out by going through the menu?
For Christmas, my kids just got Just Dance 2 (original copy) and it won't start. When we hit start, it goes to a black screen and the remotes turn off. What do I need to do in order to make the game work?
If you just pop the game disk in and it works from the disk channel then its hardmodded. If you need to start the game from a different channel then it's softmodded.
Each game runs via a Wii IOS, as the game you have chosen is a new game it may need to update the system menu to add an IOS to make the game work (however this can cause other issues).
In the Wii settings menu in the top right hand corner it should tell you what software you are running i.e. 4.2E, 3.4U . . .
Oh Sh*t...So I installed the latest update. now when I turn it on, it goes to a black screen and says Error:003 unauthorized device has been detected...What is this and can I fix it?
I thought that might happen to you when I read you "bought the wii from China". I got this problem myself when I bought a wii from Singapore, & I have not been able to fix it.
