Go to the guide in my sig. Download the softmod pack and extract the file. Now extract the "EXTRACT TO SD CARD" file to your SD card.
Place the SD Card in your Wii and follow the 4.2 Shop Channel v18: section of the guide. You will still be on 4.1 firmware but will be able to access the shop channel.
Attempted to use this method to update shop, worked on my own wii, but when tried on a friends there are two outcomes:-
(1) Press 'a', the 'a' again to update the IOS - The machine resets
(2) Press 'a', then 'b' to skip IOS update. It starts then I get garbage on the screen

Ok so read about an alternative method which was using NSUDV1.2 to download the channel and create a wad, then use wadmanager. After installing this, when starting the shopping channel I get an error 204965 - Try again later. ANy ideas?
Have just come on here looking for the same error you have reported above. I installed the shop channel a week ago using the guide and got iplayer fine. wanted to upgrade my internet browser yesterday so deleted the current version and tried to download but it was prompting to upgrade which then failed. today however i cannot get in at all.
