So I've read through the very first sticky trying to find something, and I didn't see anything.

I've tried google searching, but not very successful.

I'm much more into the 360 hacking scene, and I am very much lacking with the wii in the knowledge I have.

I'm a little confused when it comes to installing IOS's. I know I I can download them as wads and install them with a wad manager.

What's happening with me is that I'm getting error 002 when using usb gx loader. I want to fix this. After some searching, I've found some sites saying to install IOS 38, 53, and then 55. My question is, how do I see which IOS's I do have already installed? Is there a specific order that I have to install all IOSs and if I don't I could brick it, or does it not matter? I'm just hesitant because I followed a good that had bootmii, hbc, preloader, and other things installed, and I don't know if I can just install IOSs or if I would brick it.

If someone also has a link explaining all about IOSs, I'd be more than happy just to read up on that too so I could hopefully get more background info.

Thanks for any help.

EDIT:

Now I have found that I can use a setting before I play the game in USB GX to enable error 002 fix...

But I am still interested in whether I need to install IOSs in an order, all the previous info...

Thanks

You can install any IOS in any order.

Just think of an IOS as a "independent operating system".

Some IOS is used for system menus and some IOS are used to run games.

IOS also have different revisions of them. The newer revisions are usually patched to block homebrew applications from running on them. But with the help of applications like DOP-IOS you can install and patch the latest revisions of each IOS to run homebrew on them.

I would recommend going to my softmod guide in my sig and follow the DOP-IOS section of the guide. Install the reomeneded IOS that I have listed since they are for game use.

The only thing that could get messed up is if you have installed cIOSCorp to play games from the normal disc channel. If you have this installed doing the DOP-IOS section would overwrite those IOS files and no longer let you run games from the normal disc channel.

HERE is a little bit more info on what an IOS does.

great, thanks for your help.

I'll look it all up.

I appreciate it

EDIT:

Damn, it looks like I did.

This was the guide I was given (unfortunately before I had looked in here)

Quote:

-UPDATING TO 4.1-

(A) NECESSITIES:
1. A Wii with an internet connection (wired or wireless).
1. 4.1 Update.rar
2. Clean FAT formatted SD Card. )SD not SDHC( (1GB or 2GB)

(B) STEPS:
1. Extract 4.1 Update.rar to the root of your SD Card.
-(If the first two letters of your Wii's serial number are LU: rename 41USAhacks.ini to hacks.ini
if they are LEH: rename 41PALhacks.ini to hacks.ini)
2. Go into Wii Options, Data Management, Channels. It should ask to load boot.elf, do so and install the HomeBrew Channel.
-(if you have homebrew channel already skip this step and proceed directly to step #3)-
3. install BootMii.
-(install BootMii as boot2 if you can, but if not as IOS will work).
4. Go into Homebrew Channel, run Wanins 4.1 Updater, reboot when finished.
-(if you get a error run wanins 4.0 updater then run wanins 4.1 updater)-
5. Launch BootMii*. Click the 4th icon (it looks like gears) and backup your NAND. (Have 528mb free on the SD Card).
6. Go into the Homebrew Channel, run CMDVDX34. Choose Downgrade IOS35.
-(if it says something about being a pirate, uninstall all your pirat(ed/ing) materials, and run shared2clean from Homebrew Channel).
-(if it says "failed to add title......", get back into Homebrew Channel, run WMIOS35, install IOS35-64-v1040.wad, then reboot with the HOME button).
7. Get back into Homebrew Channel, run WMIOS35, install cios_fix.wad with the + button, then reboot with the HOME button.
-(if you get a -2011 or -1035 error, skip this step and proceed directly to step #8).
8. Make sure the internet connection for your Wii is set up, get back into Homebrew Channel, run IOS DOWNGRADER V1.1, reboot when it's done.
-(if after you press A and it says "press any button to reboot the wii" skip this step and proceed directly to step #9)-
NOW WE CAN INSTALL WADs
9. Get back into Homebrew Channel, run WadManager, install CIOS60BF.wad with the + button, then reboot with the HOME button.
10. Get back into Homebrew Channel, run Preloader. Press 1 to install, now you should be at the Preloader menu**. Set it up as follows:
-Go into Settings, change:
AutoBoot: System Menu
Stop Disc: On
Ignore Standby Mode: On
-then click Save Settings and press B.
-Then go into SystemMenu Hacks, enable AT LEAST these hacks:
"Skip disc update check"
"Remove diag disc check"
"Remove NoCopy Protection"
-The RegionFree hacks are optional and up to you.
-then click Save Settings and press B. Then click System Menu.
***11. Get back into Homebrew Channel, run cIOSCORPS v3.4 Main Installer. Press any button to reboot when finished.
***12. Get back into Homebrew Channel, run cIOSCORPS v3.4 Extras Installer. Install IOS201-64-v3094-v3.4.wad, cIOS36-v3094-v3.4-rev14_DIP.wad, RVL-DVDX-v1-v3.4-uses_IOS201.wad and RVL-cmios-v4_merge_9-v3.4-WiiGator.wad then Press any button to reboot when finished.

*-If you installed as boot2, reboot the Wii and BootMii should boot. If installed as IOS, go into Homebrew Channel, press Home and click Launch BootMii If installed as boot2, use an NGC controller or the Power/Reset/Eject buttons on the Wii to get through the options, if IOS then NGC Pad only.

**-If it didn't take you to the Preloader menu automatically, turn the Wii off then back on and immediately hold reset.

***-For more info on the cIOSCORP Main Installer v3.4 and cIOSCORPS Extras installer, read cIOSCORP v3.4 README.txt in root!!!

(C) USB LOADING STEPS:
1. Get back into Homebrew Channel, run cIOS38_Rev14 select IOS 249 then Network install then exit.
2. Download USB_Loader_GX-UNEO_Forwarder_16.06.09.rar (Link in LINKS below) extract to the root of your SD Card.
3. Get back into Homebrew Channel, run WadManager, install USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder.wad then exit.

So looks like I might be kind of screwed.

I was talking to some people in the #wiihelp channel (supposed to be populated from users from wiibrew. They suggested that if I need to, I could always update to 4.2 and it's like I'm starting over with a clean slate. They said the bannerbomb exploit now works on that.

Would that work?

002 error you said?

002 can be fixed with USB loader GX by going into game settings and turning on the 002 fix.

If that is your only problem then surely that should fix it. missing IOS's usually cause the black screen that requires the install of the missing files.

There is a rapidshare link to cIOSCorp 3.4 uninstaller from HERE.

That is if you want to uninstall it and update to the latest IOS and patch them. But doing this will void being able to play backups from your disc channel.

I would recomend avoiding going to 4.2 at this time.
