I stupidly tried to install a menu theme without having any backup program installed. The closest thing I did was install Bootmii, but it was installed as an IOS, and I think I read that it won't work that way. The problem I'm having is it freezes at the health and safety screen, it doesn't give me the option of pressing a.
I tried calling Nintendo, but they said that since I had non Nintendo approved programs on my Wii, they couldn't bring it to their repair shop, and there was nothing they could do to fix my Wii. Also, I have zero knowledge of installing mod chips, and I don't have a DVD burner so using a DVD is out too. I can get a Gamecube controller no problem, but do I really have to open it? And what's the exact name of the dongle I need to buy to recover my Wii with? And if I buy a Gamecube controller and the dongle, are they guaranteed to fix my Wii? I don't want to waste money on something that won't work, but it's much cheaper than buying a whole new Wii.
Also, my Wii is at version 3.2U, and I don't mind losing everything, and I don't even mind having my Wii at a specific version.

A savemiifrii or savemii dongle should be ok.
I had a Low-level/theme brick sent it to them with all the necessary items and they sent me a new one!
You have a full brick and should follow this: http://savemii.net/troubleshooting.html#C
and post results

I'll most likely either get a savemii or find a wii repair service. Although I won't have money for either til next month. And which is better? Paying someone to fix my wii for me, or getting the savemii? I have a feeling that the savemii won't fix my wii (knowing my luck with mods), and I think that my chances would be much better if I just shipped my wii to someone and had them fix it.

you know if you had priloader installed you can skip the health screen and jump straight to the menu screen? Why wont you try that. Access boot mii then access homebrew install priiloader. Restart your wii and hold reset and turn on hack options to skip healthscreen.

I don't think I have priloader, just bootmii installed as IOS. So it is impossible for me to use priloader, unless I can find a way to pass the health and safety screen, since as far as I know I have to be able to access the HBC in order to install anything, and I can't even get to the wii menu.

I don't think it would be safe to give it to a random guy.
I'd try the savemiifrii dongle.
Can you boot a disc?
If not, you have to buy the dongle,if the version number is displayed do the step below (If you can buy a ne...)
If you can buy a newer game (the example is mario kart)
If the version number is not displayed, you will have to install "Drivechip" and put an autoboot disc of "AnyRegionChanger" and install your system menu.
Post the results when your done!

I tried Gold's Gym Cardio Workout, and no dice. And like I said before, I have zero experience with hard mods (unless ripping off the front cover to the ps2 disc tray counts) so I can't install a mod chip, and I can't run any programs on my wii since I don't have any backup programs, and it's unable to access the menu, or HBC.
If I do send my wii in to be repaired, it would be to a company, or at least to someone with a good reputation, and if I go this route I'll have a much better chance at getting my wii fixed, since people who fix wiis have much more than the dongle available to repair wiis, while if I get the dongle, it has a lower chance of working, and if it doesn't work then I'm out $30. I would make a savemiifrii but I get queasy when it comes to taking apart electronics. I tried to mod my ps2 network adapter so I could make it accept WD drives, and ended up destroying it.

I can't open the wii, it doesn't belong to me actually, it's being loaned to me while I live in this apartment. So that's another reason why I can't do any hard mods. And by disc do you mean a burned disc? Whenever I try to load a legit disc, it goes in, but it still brings me to the same health and safety screen, and doesn't go any further.
I haven't tried a burned disc, and I don't see a point in trying, since I have no modchip, and I know I didn't install anything that would enable my wii to play burned discs.

Killey you keep telling us you have no experience with hard mods or softmods at all yet in your original statement you stupidly installed themes. What made you attempt this without any precautions is my question? Normally only people with experience in hard modding or both attempt things like this and carefully too knowing the risks. Backing up the nand is priority 1.
However not all hope is lost just yet I think i maybe have a solution for you as long as you have a sd card ready. Its files that will launch you into bootmii. However, you still need a working nand to take your wii back to the original state. Most nand files are 500 megabytes and im not going to upload it for you. But, if you want my boot mii solution you can privately message me to set up something.
Im sure u can find a working nand file somewhere to restore your wii to the original state. Also what are your wii system specs. More info would help. [ex. 3.2u etc]
Im quite sure all nands are the same if its in the original state of the wii. If you cant find one you can do softmodding on another wii and get its Nand via boot mii and use it on this one to restore it. I would try this before paying for savemii or anything else. If this trick doesnt work then get savemii.

My Wii is 3.2U, and not sure what else. I'm pretty sure I installed IOS 249. And yeah, it was stupid of me to try installing a theme, I thought it would be easy, since I can change the theme on my DS flash card no problem.

I will give you the bootmii files you need, as boot2.
I could give you a nand backup but my sd is too small.
If there is anything else you might need just ask.
bye the way your wii isn't toast.
Someone else's wii is broke!
Sorry...

Sure, do I need to email you for them? Also, how do I use them? Do I burn them to a disc or put them on my SD card?
And actually, the Wii was bought specifically for me, but since the agency that runs the house I live in paid for it, it's technically theirs xD

You have a theme brick, not a full brick. Theme Bricks are easily fixed by updating from a game in your region, however you will need a modchip configured to autoboot & a gc controller to perform savemiifrii. Once you have these things just download an iso with a higher firmware, patch it to autoboot & update from it.
This is why it is always wise to install bootmii as boot2 & priiloader.

12137 , i have already suggest what you are suggesting no point in reinterating what ive said. He told us he doesnt have priiloader or boot mii. However as boot2 you can access bootmii via sd card which is what hes going to attempt now. He just needs a working nand.
theblaze I can definitely fix your problem it has to do with modding the iso file though.

No, It is a full brick.
They can also be fixed by getting a newer game.
If you could/can boot a disk then just put mario kart in.
Otherwise, you will have to get a savemiifrii dongle.

the blaze i dont know which guide you follow, which is causing your nsmb not to work but there is a file patch you can use on the iso to remove the errors they are giving you.

On "Backup Games" I have posted the link.
My wii is a "newer" wii, which cannot read backups.
As read in the error index from wiihacks.com
error 1053 is do do with the dvd/drive error and my wii is a newer one so it is the drive prob or both.

I don't think a nand backup would work, because even if it's on the SD card, there would have to be a way to pass the health and safety screen first, and since I basically have a corrupted system, I don't think there's any way of getting past that without a mod chip or a dongle.
And getting a mod chip isn't an option, since technically it's not my wii, although if there's a clip on mod chip or something that works without opening up the wii, I can try that.
And I'm guessing that loading a newer wii game won't fix it either, since there's no mod chip.

Short of getting a modchip, you could try using a bootmii disc & the savemifrii method.
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=157757
It doesn't say you need a modchip but you probably will, try it anyway. Or you could use the official nintendo backup disc from the savemiifrii recovery menu. It will delete most of your stuff but you will be unbricked.
http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-faqs...nner-brick.html
Both methods will probably require a modchip, however there is nothing on either website suggesting the disc or modchip must be configured to autoboot, so give them a try if you have the other right requirements.
Chances are if you cannot get a modchip you'll have to send it to nintendo.

killey a nand back up would work cause as soon as your wii boots it boots to bootmii and no health screen. At bootmii you would install a new nand to erase your previous corrupt memory. You just need a sd card and the right files which i have.

Like I said before, I stupidly set Bootmii as IOS. When I turn on the wii, the first, and only thing I see is the health and safety screen. Although if the files can make my wii go straight to bootmii, then sure, I would appreciate the files. My email is mzd1979@gmail.com
