Ok I have really screwed up somehow, I have a Japanese Wii 3.1J and I was up and running with HBC installed and using USB Loader GX with cIOS 249and I was trying to install different cIOS (like IOS56-64-v5405) so I could run Super Mario Galaxy 2 and I think some of the differnt IOS's may have affected my HBC because whenI would click on it it would revert back to the main screen...so to cut to the point I formatted back to the default system and was going to reinstall the HBA as I did from a post last year

http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-154/..._loader-785583/

But this is not working my system is still 3.1 but I can not install the HBC, If some has an idea please advise, I have google and youtube as much as possible but a lot of what is out now is for 4.1 & 4.2 and what I have alwas used is no longer working

Thanks in Advance for an answers

Did you make a NAND Backup?

By formatting your wii, you have made it what's called "A Virgin". The format would have erased The Homebrew Channel, however your cIOS would still be there, causing loading of Hackmii to be impossible. With the Aid of a NAND Backup, it may be possible to revert to your previous settings & start over.

If you do not have a NAND Backup, you could either:

1) Try and overwrite the fakesigned IOS with an official one, thus removing it & making your wii homebrew compatible again.

2) Update to 4.2 & softmod it normally.

Please specify your choice & I can supply instructions on each.

No I did not make a NAND Backup I did not know I should have...

Now seeing that I do not have it what would be a smarter choice. Is there a plus to being on 3.1 rather than 4.1 or would it be easier just to update?

In the long run, updating would be easier, however it must be 4.2, so your current softmods are erased. The other method is possible but it will take longer,

I know this may be a strange question but the system is in Japanese is there someplac eI can get the 4.2 update from because I think the wiil is going straight to 4.3 I have google everywhere for the download file of 4.2J because I read on another fourm that you should not update using the 4.2U update on a Japanese system If this is the case how would I "overwrite the fakesigned IOS with an official one, thus removing it & making your wii homebrew compatible again."

Thanks in advance

In answer to your first question, you could update to 4.2J off a disc like Super Mario Galaxy 2 or Endless Ocean (Make sure they are in the Japanese region).

In answer to your second question, it would require you to use bannerbomb to run an app called syscheck, to find out which IOS you have trucha enabled, then using bannerbomb to load WAD Manager to re-install a clean IOS over these.

Alternatively there is a third option where you could try to run the hackmii installer using a game exploit like Indiana Pwns or Smash Stack, however this is unlikely to work.

I noticed that the short tutorial Larry posted to you in last year's post did not include information on how to softmod, just how to install The HBC. I assume you must of followed some tutorial to get your cIOS, so if you could perhaps provide a link to the tutorial you used for softmodding that would make the second option a whole lot easier. Thanks

I tried to load bannerbomb's syscheck but I do not have HBC or wad manger since I formatted. And about the loading of the cISO's there was not just a 1 mostly I check here:

http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-faqs...es-use-run.html

to see what cISO's I would need to play some of the ISO off my Ext. HD (I was getting black/green screens Super Mario Galaxy 2 & Call Of Duty) So I am not sure what cIOS's are installed and at this point. I used google to get these, and installed them as .wads like the USBGX

IOS15-64-v257
IOS15-64-v523
IOS36-64-v3351
IOS56-64-v5405

Is there another way to run syscheck without have the HBC I am completely stuck...As always thanks

Bannerbomb is an exploit, it allows you to run .elf files (Homebrew Apps) without having The Homebrew Channel installed. Like I said before a link to the softmodding guide you used would greatly help.

To be completely honest with you, if you can't find a link to the softmodding guide you used, you'd probably be better off updating to 4.2 & resoftmodding.

First let me say thank you for all the advance you have said already Ok, now When you say softmodding are you speaking of the cIOS i installed because id did not use 1 the only guide I use was the first one I posted a year ago to install the HBC once I had it I have just been using USB Loader GX to run some games and when some of them would show a black or green screen I googled to see why that was happening and I saw some post on various sites like the the above post showing that I had to have a particular cIOS.and since they were .wads I just used Wad Manager to install them

Now I know that this all seems out of the way SO I would like to update, but If I update from the Wii it tries to go to 4.3 since it's out already. Do you know if I can use a American updtae or will it mess up the Wii more. Before posting this I tried to use bannerbomb using this
Guide

1. If your SD card has a private directory with saved channels, rename it temporarily, e.g. to "privateold". Having other saved channels on the same card will screw it up. (You can skip this step if you don't have any channels on the SD card. Saves are fine.)
2. Copy the Bannerbomb "private" folder to the root of your SD card.
3. Take your Wii executable, name it "boot.dol" or "boot.elf" if it isn't already, and save it in the root directory of your SD card.
4. Put your SD card in your Wii and turn it on.
5.
* For Bannerbomb v1: Go into Wii Options --> Data Management --> Channels --> SD Card.
* For Bannerbomb v2: Go to the SD Card Menu on the main System Menu screen
6. A message should appear asking to "load boot.dol/.elf". If it freezes or does not appear, download the next .zip file from the Bannerbomb website and start over.
7. The homebrew on your SD card will load. Enjoy!
8. (Optional) Fill out Comex's survey on the Bannerbomb website.

from http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Bannerbomb with no result. Other than the two game (japanese version) do you know where I can get the 4.2J update?

Option 1
Like I said before you can update off a disc, since your homebrew channel was deleted you probably can't run WAD Manager via it. The games that contain 4.2 updates include:

2010 Fifa World Cup South Africa
Endless Ocean 2
Super Mario Galaxy 2

Option 2
Of course it is also possible to load the WAD files for 4.2J.
IOS70: http://www.mediafire.com/?wybmmyc5zwz
System Menu 4.2J: http://www.mediafire.com/?nfjwz4xirjn

If bannerbomb isn't working I suggest using a Homebrew Game exploit to load WAD Manager either:

Smash Stack (Uses Super Smash Bros Brawl) http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Smash_Stack
Indiana Pwns (Uses LEGO Indiana Jones) http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Indiana_Pwns

If you follow this method, make sure to install IOS70 first, or you will brick.

Option 3
You could run syscheck & overwrite the trucha IOS with WAD Manager

Option 4
This one is also a easy method, I just thought of it & it allows you to stay o 3.1. You will backup ALL of your game save data to your sd card, & run a backup copy of Nintendo's official backup disc. This disc will delete everything on your wii, reverting it to normal settings.

Wow, that's alot of methods. If you want my opinion I'd try to go for option 4 before option 1.

12137, You are the best!!!! today I just got up and keep trying Bannerbomb (the files on the archive page)and it worked HBC is back (don't know what I did different but....I have HBC now, but nothing is working as before USB Loader will not start, HB browser looks different, but I did manage to load the syscheck but it hangs (at the bottom of the scree where it says "Testing IOS vulnerabilities......Please wait......" The green bar stops between the i& the t in vulnerabilities but the information I get before it stops is

Region: NTSC-J
The System menu is v256 is running under IOS56 (rev5405).
Hollywood v0x11.
Console ID: 58002554.
Boot2 v3.

Getting number of titles...Found 37 titles
Getting list of titles...

Found 21 IOS and 0 IOS Stubs on this console.

Now I know that you said Option 4 is the easy method, but I do not have the backup disc. SO I am left to just update using the Option 2 Thank you seriously for all the help!!!!!
