I'm just putting this out there to see if anyone else has had the game freeze mid game. I just brought the Retail game home last night and as expected the game Error with the disk Blue screen 002. Anyway as I did with My SMG2 I loaded it to my USB Fat drive and started to play Via CFG USBLoader 56c-22Mload. Well mid game to day The Wii Froze. I just restarted the Wii to be sure it was nothing permanent or really bad. Everything loaded back up just fine. I went into the Game options and turned on Block ISO reload. I have never had to use this with any of my games and don't know why to use it. I'm all done playing for now and have not tried to get to that point in the game. I know that All I would have to do is update the IOS56-64-v5405.wad to get the SMG2 game to work. Chances are this would fix the Lego HP game as well.

Update:
I don't know it that Block ISO reload did the trick but I got past the part the Froze.

Another bug.... My son and I got to Year two where Harry Potter learns to dual with Malfoy. Only when we both entered the room (two player) after the cut seen there was no one on the table to fight. Both of use were trapped with nowhere to go. Ended up exiting to the start then when we got back to that area player two dropped out before the cut seen and had Malfoy to battle.

SMG2 plays fine for me. I've been using USB Loader GX and Im definitely getting the LEGO Harry Potter freezes repeatedly. It happened during a cutscene three times for me but eventually I passed it and played fine. I have no idea whats causing the problem and I can't seem to find a fix for it. I've been trying to play this with 2 players it seems that the game has some horrendous FPS issues if the two players seperate. We went to either side of a room and it crashed after which I gave up for the night.

Im using a SimpleTech 1GB HDD.
A PAL backup set to Force NTSC, IOS 249, Error 002 on
I believe I recently installed cIOS38 Rev 17
USB Loader GX (completely upto date)
4.1 U

I was using it with Block IOS Reload OFF, Ill try it on.

EDIT: Playing with Block IOS Reload ON and the game is running fine 10 minutes into our save and has passed the last zone it crashed in~

im still on cios36rev10 and had no freezes or problems with this game or any of the problematic games, i have to use rev10 as the usb port needed for later revs is damaged beyond repair, maybe its true what they say, the older ones are the best

My IOS56 wad install idea was to try to play the game via my game disk to see if its a USBLoader issue. Since I Legally own these game as with 99% of my games. I'm relieved that I am not the only one with cut seen issues.

My system is somewhere between 4.1-4.2U with only the patches necessary to get the shop channel working (Broken again with 4.3 updates) I believe it reports 4.2U.
Game NTSC on NTSC system
CFG USBLoader 56C-222(Mload)
Error 002 off
Block Reload on
All other Council Default
Drive 250G Simpletech Fat32

Does let you play the game via the Disk. Not sure if that will also fix the lock ups. So far with the Block IOS reload on I have yet to have one.
