Madden 10 System Update

Ok. I just started getting into game backups so I'm still a newb at it, but I am learning fast.

I just rented Madden 10 and burned it to my USB HD. I tried running it once but it gave me a screen dump so hard rebooted the Wii.

I decided to just try playing it from the disc (because I just want to play the game today), but it wants to do a system update. Normally that wouldn'e phase me but in the update it specifically warns about system modifications being taken out, and possible loss of use of the system.

If my Wii is softmodded with homebrew and all the other WAD's associated with it, do I need to worry? Should I do the system update from the disc? I have extracted all of the updates from the disc to the SD card, but I don't know what to do with them yet or how to install them all manually (there were a whole lot of them...)

I have 4.1U firmware. If you need any more details I can provide them.
