modified Wii quit working

Please help!! Let me start off by saying I know very little about computers. I recently bought a modified Wii and it worked great! Now, when I click on the Configurable USB loader it freezes on a grey screen with a red switch. It acts like it is trying to pull from the hard drive, yet, nothing happens. Everything else seems to work fine. I went into the Wii options menu and the games are there. What do I do now? Is it salvageable?
