I couldn't find any posts offering a solution to getting this game to run, and I've had so much trouble with it that now I found a way taht worked for me I thought I could share it here.
This is not my work, credit goes to whoever posted this up on anohter site:
So, this is what you need to do: (disc AND usb loading)
1. Download this: Hermes_cIOS222_223_installer_3.0_(rev4).zip
2. Extract/copy it to your apps directory on your SD card.
3. Run the installer in the Homebrew channel, and install IOS223 as 37 merged with 38.
4. Run MH3 (making sure to select ios223 in your loader)
5. Enjoy!
**You will not be able to use neogamma, as it wont allow you to select ios 223, you can use CFG usb loader and USB loader GX to boot discs.**
**You may need to set 002 fix to YES in your loader if you get a 002 error**
As far as i am aware, modchip users will have no problems.
Maybe that is a 100% working solution also. But not for me, as configurable usb loader does not want to recognize any of my USB HDDs, just USB-memory sticks. Therefore I use GX loader.
By the way I found out that Guitar Hero 5 also works now.
I have not checked if other games have stopped working because of doing this.
Hey all, I'm trying to get Monster Hunter Tri working from a disc. I couldn't get Configurable USB Loader past the HDD setup thing (I don't have a HDD), so I tried formatting a 1GB USB drive to FAT32 and tried that (I inserted it into the left slot). It recognized it and after I pressed A two or three times I got to the menu. I selected the "Boot Disc" option which brought up another screen and (I think) made the Wii read the disc. But this resulted in it saying something like "ERROR: Not a Wii Disc. Press any button to restart."
This puzzled me because NeoGamma R7 can recognize it (but since I'm using cIOSX Rev19 on base 38 I can't play it). I also hadn't installed cIOS222/223 with IOS38 merged with 37 yet incase something like this happened (meaning that I would've installed cIOS222/223 for no reason). gambleboy says that this method will work for both disc and USB loading, and that modchip users will have no problem. I have a modchip (don't bother asking what type because I have no idea and I'm not going to open my Wii) and I'm using a disc, yet I can't do anything.
I know I've done something wrong, so can someone PLEASE tell me what it is? If you need further information about my situation I'll be happy to provide it. I can't find any guides anywhere about booting discs from Configurable USB Loader. And don't bother saying "Don't even bother trying to load from a disc. USB loaders are so much simpler etc." because I've been told that enough times :).
Please help a noob out!!! Cheers to anyone that replies.
EDIT: Can I just install cIOS222/223 with IOS38 merged with 37 and use SoftChip instead of NeoGamma?
Havent done this yet but from all the reading i have done it might be that your are using a bad guide
all the 222 -223-224 guides i have looked at mention about installing them with the ios 236 first
i am thinking that my problem like your with the 22x not working for me is that i might have missed this step
if this helps you then try it and then try call of duty and see if that works
Haha, thanks for the quick reply. cIOS236 isn't essential to install cIOS222/223 because I can just use IOS249. As soon as I find the .dol files for SoftChip I will give it a shot and see if I can choose which IOS base I want to load. Plus the guide that I was using is the guide that is stated on the first post by gambleboy. And the problem isn't cIOS222/223, it's not being able to boot discs from Configurable USB Loader. Anyway, thanks for replying!
UPDATE: I've given up on SoftChip, Configurable USB Loader and USB Loader GX because they're not getting me anywhere. I'm thinking about installing cIOSX Rev19 (Base 38) on IOS250 to maintain my compatibility with Wad Manager and installing cIOSX Rev19 (Base 37) on IOS249 so that I can load Monster Hunter Tri from NeoGamma. Is this the right way to go? I never use Wad Manager anyway, but there may be a time in the future when I'll need it. Also, does Base 37 cause issues with other games? If I can only play Monster Hunter Tri with it, then it's not worth changing from Base 38 to 37 on IOS249. Would it be easier to just install IOS236 to use for other IOS installations instead of cIOSX Rev19 (Base 38) on IOS250?
I'm going to start a new thread on my problem because it doesn't fall under 'Monster Hunter Tri Backup Solution' anymore.
