I know you can load games from a USB loader and device (ie external harddrive), but can you load movies/videos onto a USB harddrive and play movies from a Wii onto your TV?

Yes you can.

The drive needs to be FAT32 formated for the videos to be played using a Video playback application.

I use GeeXboX to play my videos. HERE is a link to it (again you need to place the video files on a FAT32 formated USB Device in order for GeeXboX to play).
