Hey all. I got my 4.2E Wii hard-modded last week ith a Wii Key Fusion (with up to date firmware), as well as going through and completing a soft-mod guide, AND downgrading to 4.1E, but my Wii refuses to play both in or out of region back-ups of mine.

I can try to play them from DVD-Rs or from external HD. With Neogamma, Gecko OS, or with the Wii Disc Channel (for Gamecube), it really makes no difference. My Wii just spits the dummy when trying to play most games: it will either give me a green screen, black screen, "refer to the wii/gamecube manual" error", or various other types of errors.

I thought that downgrading to 4.1E would have caused my Wii Fusion to work no problems, but my wii is being a stubborn little bugger, even with the hard and soft mods it doesn't want to play back-ups.

Any help appreciated.

I cant help with the wiikey fusion, but I do have plenty of experience with softmods. What guide did you follow to softmod the wii and did you follow every step?

I followed this guide: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-faqs-guides-tutorials-only/60921-guide-softmod-any-wii.html

I already had the homebrew Channel and Bootmii installed so I followed steps Chapter 1 - part 3, and Chapter 2 parts 1 and 2. I had trouble installed Priiloader so I haven't blocked online updates yet, nor did I download the extra apps at the end.

I feel like it's not playing because there isn't the correct IOSs or CIOS or whatever. Like, for some games I will be able to play for a few minutes, or seconds, but then the Wii's back-up or out of region security cuts in and puts a stop to all that.

The anti-piracy checks and region blocks don't work that way. The games either play or they don't (well, one exception. New super mario wii had a piracy check that checked at intervals during gameplay. But that was only when playing from disk with modchip)

The games that play, are they from disks or USB? Some wii's are VERY twitchy about burned media and have been known to crash randomly. This is one of the main advantages of USB loaders.

The games that play are from discs, but even when I try loading with USB loaders it comes up with all types of errors.

Unfortunately I dont remember what version every IOS should be off the top of my head. You seem to be more or less up to date but I would run a homebrew program called pimp my wii. It will automatically check every one and update it if necessary.

run dop-mii v14.5, and update all of your IOS 80 and under. only a few will stay stubbed because there is no clean version from NUS.

then when done, update IOS249 with cIOSX_rev20 and base 57. and install configurable usb loader.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .
