Im pretty new to all this. I have updated my wii to 4.1 and i followed this guide: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/777675. I think it was because i had updated to 4.1 that the guide didn't work correct to me. But now to what my problem is. I followed the guide how to run backups for pal wiis. I couldn't install step 2 the anyregionchanger so i skipped it and continued. So when i came to the preloader step it fails. I came to a menu with system menu and system menu hacks. All i get there is errors. After that everytime i start wii that menu comes up and when i quit from hembrew channel. I wonder if it's possible to remove that? It's annoying that everytime i start wii the system menu comes up for preloader. :(
you need to get the latest version of preloader for 4.1 - just google it. I believe the version that comes with the zip file in the link you listed is for 4.0 only. Each wii firmare version has a specific preloader .ini hack file. If you have the wrong version for your wii, it won't install correctly.
Once you gootle it, you'll find the text for your wii model. Copy everything and paste it into a blank text file and anme it hacks.txt. Once saved, change .txt to .ini Place the new hacks.ini file n the root of the SD card - if it asks you to overwrite the other version, then say yes. Then rerun preloader and it should install correctly this time assuming you follow all of the other steps in the softmod guide correctly
Also, every step in that post should work. I've softmodded 5 wii's that way and haven't had any issues. What failed with iosdowngrader - did you get an error code? If you already ran it before (say when you softmodded at version 3.2 or 3.4), then it will just exit after you run it now that you're on 4.1u.
To bybass preloader after reboot, go to system settings, not system hacks. Change the 1st option to boot to the wii or directly to homebrew, not preloader. The second option should be set for preloader so you can hold the reset button to get into preloader to save your butt if you brick. However preloader won't work if you have the wrong hacks.ini for your regions firmware.
I want now to use neogamma to play backups but i don't know which neogamma version i should use and how to install it. I have firmware 4.1 and followed the guide above. I can't find any info when i google it. :(
