I softmodded my wii yesterday, and i can play backup wii games, but ive been trying to play a backup gamecube game. I installed the Gamecube Backup Loader fine, and i legally obtained a good iso, but the only discs i have are dvd-r, not minidvds. Ive burned the gamecube game (which was only 1.5gb) to the dvd-r, which holds 4.7gb, but it doesnt work on my console in the Gamecube Backup Loader. Is there a special way to burn Gamecube games? Or does the particular game not work (Kirby's Air Ride). Can someone tell me how to burn a gamecube game to a dvd-r?
you might need to install the cmios that the gamecube backup launcher uses....games are burned similar to wii games but because they are small you can usually burn 3-5 games to a disc using a multigame iso creator..the launcher reads them at 1x-3x so no need to burn faster....regular dvd's can be used i dont believe mini dvd blanks are even supported but i could be wrong hope that helps
Thanks. Is there any way to check if you have the MIOS or cMIOS installed? Im afraid to try to install it again and accidentally brick the wii, and im not sure if i installed it. Also, might it be because this version of the game is PAL and i have a NTSC system? Ive tried running the Gamecube Backup Launcher 0.2 and forcing NTSC and it still doesnt work. Also, the only other thing is that it could be a bad burn. I dont want to re-burn it though because I only have 2 DVD-R's left and I am going to burn wii games with them because i dont want to have to buy more. Please answer quick because I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to play Kirby's Air Ride again :(
dont forget that you can load wii games via usb it comes in handy...as for kirby there is another post where someone had trouble this was my advice for trying to boot a pal backup
try a disc swap at the gamecube backup launcher screen...load up a ntsc game you know works like Pikmin for example...once the launcher detects eject it insert ur pal backup then forcentsc it is how i get pal doshin the giant to work on my ntsc wii in my vid here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7boagLr5Uo
as for wether or not you install the cmios i am unsure how to tell other than to ask if any gamecube game work...what happens when you attempt to launch? and honestly i dont think anything will break if you try a reinstall
