Ok, I am following the steps in the guide but I keep getting a problem after I install HBC and get to the part of backing up the NAND.
I get the menu for HBC and hit Launch BootMii, my screen goes black and my blue drive light flashes...nothing else on my wii will work until I power reset my system. Also, found out my system wouldn't allow me to use front buttons so I got a GC controller to navigate.
I finally got the NAND backed-up and went through the guide step by step and everything worked like a charm EXCEPT when I got to the Custom IOS Installer.
I still followed directions and followed the steps and it seems my wii could be frozen. I observe the following:
And there it sits with the blue slot light glowing brightly. If it froze is there anything I can or should do? Does that one download normally take a long time to load?
Yes I am connected. As of this entry it has not changed one bit. I'm starting to worry that I have created a brick!.
Larrylje, if you can read this ... HELP!!!! please.
Another Update: I found out the internet service in my hotel has been kinda off and is being repaired now but in the meantime I pulled out my handy VZW broadband usb and got back online...started cIOS over and this time it actually completed with no hangups at all!
Now I'm in DOP-IOS and following the list but this prg. does another step that the guide does not mention but I hope it was the right thing to d/l from NUS and then hit A (pls. no comments about it being common sense when I follow a guide I follow step-by-step)
I made it to IOS12 and several times it gave an http error and tried again after 5 or 6 times I got an exception error and a stack dump. I'm going to try this again from step one and see what happens. Also I noticed that my wii is still reporting itself as 4.2U even after all the afore mentioned steps in the guide were taken. I thought it downgrades to system to be open.
Ok, made through the entire guide at last but not without some moments that had me worried because the guide did not mention them and with choices introduced that also were not in the guide.
Larry, I am not bashing your guide by any means and I hope you understand this.
To anyone who feels maybe I should not have tried to use the guide let me explain, I love a challenge and I work with computers in every form and fashion be it building,repairing,networking...etc.
And so on a dare of a friend and my desire to get a wii i chose to go for it and here we are. I would love to be able to have my disc for the wii on a hard drive so I can have my disc w/o needing to drag my disc everywhere.
Let me know if there is anything else I should do for the wii.
All steps in the guide corresponds with the DOP-IOS v11.5 application.
I just checked for myself.
More then likely you made the error by downloading the wrong DOP-IOS version. I said to download v11.5 and you probably ignored that part of the guide and downloaded v12 (Beta7).
Next time pay closer attention to the guide when you follow it.
