New Black Wii with D4 drive wont run backups

Cant boot any backup disks, has been softmodded and working from a USB. But wont read any back up disks. If I change the Wii drive which one should I buy?

Black wii's wont run any backups, this is well documented. If you really want to run backup disks then any of the earlier drive models should be fine, though since you're already playing games from a USB I can't really see why you need to read burned disks.

I have a game that wont run under the USB no matter how I set it. I was under the impression that some games wont run if loaded too fast from the hard drive. I thought it might run from a disk! Big Beach Sports 2 is one that wont run.

That runs fine from USB - issues with this game could be, if out of region the TV cannot show the picture, some games cannot force video output (the Wii then goes to black screen and has to be hard reset)
