Hi

I bought my son a new Nintendo Wii console from Asda's in June. I am hoping to give it to him for xmas.
I have been buying games throughout the year & having been testing them and they all have been working perfectly well.
However I recently bought a second hand game Mario Kart & tried it in the wii. On the menu it said 'Please insert disc' & it wont play or come up on the screen. I tried to eject the disc but it wont come out. It's stuck.
Please help, I dont know what do to?

Hi emms,

This is a common problem in the wii. But you are going to be required to actually open up your wii. So first off the reason why the game isnt working is that the mario kart game is probably a burned version and you dont have softmod in the wii or a mod chip. Sometime when a game gets a disc it constantly spins it and the motors and gears are in action. If the game cant be read the lens over works itself and sometimes it can jam the gears. For the nintendo wii a front bar handle raises once a game is inserted causing the game to be irremovable. Now with that said

you need to google guides on how to open up the wii. Youll need a phillips and a tri wing screw driver. Once all the screws are removed. There are lots. So keep note of where which screw goes where. youll find a metal case inside which sits over the dvd reader. Lift that up and youll reach the DVD reader. Next step is to remove 4 screws on each corner. Once that is achieved lift up the wii dvd reader slowly revealing two connectors. One is a ribbon which can easily be removed by lifting the brown connector. The other is a white connector that just slips on like a floppy drive connector. Remove both and now you have the dvd reader in hand. Next is to turn it on its belly and remove 6 to 8 screws holding the top and bottom together. Once that is removed lift up dvd bottom the side you move the screws on up slowly. Do not remove it fast cause the gears are revealed at this point. One loose plastic gear and your wii will not be able to function properly. If all is done you can remove the game with ease and put everything back together.
