I am a thicko 40 year who is a complete noob (is this the word :P) to all this modding stuff.
Anyway I got my kids WII modded over a year ago and only added new software once(3.something). Anyway They wanted to play some game 6 months ago but I looked and you had to update to 4.1 but this was bricking machines so I left it.
Anyway Mario 2 is out and I want my kids to play it but can I just update to 4.2.
I don't want to go down the softmod route unless I have to (Lazy fat git I am) and I only play Pal regions anyway so can anyone help me pls?
Updating should not affect you, since you only want to play PAL Games. When you update to 4.2, your modchip doesn't allow you to play region-free games anymore, you can only boot games in your region. Updating should be safe, however 1 in 1000 machines brick due to hardware failure on nintendo's part, so be careful.

use dop-mii. And install ios 35 and 53. If that doesn't work go on system menu and install the system menu 4.2(?)But before you do that,make sure your bootmii is installed as boot2.
You should be able to do that using the hackmii installer or dop-mii
