Sure, but you still need to install homebrew channel and either neogamma or a USB loader.

I very much enjoyed NSMB, but you're right in that you just can't compare to the classics.

I still play sonic 3 from time to time.

Yes 4.2U with a modchip and following this guide :

Does work for restoring cIOS and be able to install WAD files, including NeoGamma which is used to play NSMB
