I have been backing up my 360 games for years now and after we get the iso we check it with abgx360 GUI to make sure it is not corrupted. i just got done with my first Wii dump(CoD3) is there anything like abgx360 GUI that i have to use to make sure it works properly? Last question (i hope) what is the best DVD to use for backups? on 360 it is hands down Verbatim, is there one for the Wii that is far above and beyond all?

I dont know of a program that does exactly what you're looking for. Ripping from a regular disk can only be done either by the wii's drive or a special PC drive and with very specific programs.

As for burning the disks, there are other fine brands, but verbatum -R is one of the best choices.

i am using the special LG drive for ripping, i have it ripped and i use imgburn to create the backup disk. i just didn't see how to make the rar file an iso.

Do you know you can use a USB hard drive to play your backup Wii disc? It is pretty convenient to have all your games in 1 place.

As for making the rar file an ISO. What program are you using to make the backup? Do you have WinRAR associated with ISO files? If so you will have a WinRAR file icon as the file but it is still an ISO. If the program your backing up creates a RAR file then have you tried extracting it?

Also keep in mind if you have a newer Wii system the DVD drive may not be able to read backup game disc (in this case you will need to replace the drive with 1 that can read backup disc or use a USB Loader and USB Hard Drive to run your games).

I read on the sticky that the program to use for the dump is RarDump2.0 so that is what i am using for the dump. I have tried extracting it and it says no archives found when i do it to my 360 games it asks where i want it. double click on the Wii file and i get the archive is either damaged or unknown, with the 360 i get can look at all the file contained in the image.

no matter what, verbatims are to be used. taiyo yudens too, if you can get some.

and larry is right. just use configurable usb loader to rip the game to a hard drive, and play from there. you're only physical disc is the originals.

I have used Verbatims Sony TDK RIDATA and HP DVD-R Media. All have worked well for me. I buy which ever is on sale. I always burn at 2x I have used Iso-Dumper and rar-Dumper with no issues either. Although in the end the best way to go is to spend a couple of bucks on a USB HD and use CFG USB Loader or WiiFlow to back up and play your games from your HD
