Hi, Sorry, but this is all new to me. I've been reading through the forums and I'm not sure what I need to get the ISO's from my Iomega 500GB (model LPHD-UPC) USB External Hard Drive to play onto the Wii. My Wii is hard modded w/ WiiKey2. My Wii's hard drive is not loading discs. It's making a horrible clicking noise then ejects the disc.
Please help as to what I need and how to load it onto my Wii in order for this to work. Much appreciated!

After reading through the forums even more....Will the configurable USB Loader Work? My Wii is version 3.4U. Do I need an SD card? If so how do I download configuarable USB loader onto the SD card from my desktop. uggghhh. I am sooo lost. I need step by step directions on how to download these apps to which device and so on...That's how dumb I am. All the comp. abbreviations ( cfg56-222, FAT32, ect) are making my head spin.

Yes I'm not a hard modded person. I bet you will need to Install some Softmod componets. Look llike that You PM me.. this is for every one else that stumble onto this and want to chime in or has the same question

I was just reading your post and looking for that exact thread I pointed another user to. I'm not real great at the step buy step but will help the best I can. I would suppose the first thing would be to install BootMii as boot2 if you can and Priiloader. These will be your best friend if something goes wrong. Also Make a NAND Backup with BootMii. You will need an SD card greater then 500M (1G would be Great). Then do as I posted HERE This will get you started with CFG USB loader. There are lots of loaders. This is a great pick In my opinion.
Here is an old post I had

Quote:
You don't have to format to WBFS if you use CFG loader "cfg56-222" it loads games from a FAT partition. That is how I'm running my Loader with the apps fold on the Hard drive and a forwarder channel. I then don't need a SD card in the system or I just keep my Music Game DLC SD Card in the slot (YOU MUST USE THE DISK TO USE DLC PROPORLY) the wii memory is not cleared if playing DLC when loaded from the USB Drive. Just my two cents there are option out there CFG USBloader is my favorite because that is the one that I have now. I did start with Cover-Flow it work too but CFG USBloader seems to be the one with the most support and options now.
Thread:
"Here"
Tools found in above you could need:
"Format drive Fat"
"Forwarder"

"Best of all Go Here this is where all my data is from"
"HERE" Is every thing you need to know and more on what you need to do to get started. Then after that you can update the Loader Over the Wii WiFi.
HERE, HERE or HERE This should get you started with USB LOADING

No softmods just Wiikey2. I also don't have internet hooked up to the wii.

I did purchase a 2 GB Kingston SD card with a Rosewill SD to USB adapter today from newegg and should be in by this weekend. I'll start the process once it arrives. Thanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I start at GAF's Wii Homebrew Tutorial.
Step 1. I download the Homebrew Channel, IOS249, and Hermes IOS222/223 and drop onto the SD card from my PC.

Step 2.
Follow the rest of the directions from GAF's Homebrew tutorial.

BTW-What is a NAND backup with Bootmii mean? Sorry for being such a noob lol

GAFS wii homebrew tutorial is iffy LOL. Why dont you use a tutorial more reliable like larrys guide from here. Its straight foward and rarely fails.

As for getting usb loader to work. You can remove ios15 and restore it. Also use dop to remove certain isos like 223 and such. This should all be listed in your guide, if its not then use another guide cause that one is iffy like i said.

A NAND is the system memory. Bootmii is a program designed to restore your wii's Nand. So if you back it up and mess up and your wii bricks you can restore the nand via boot mii.

geo , the short abbreviation for dop is dop mii ios mod.
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Dop-IOS/Dop-IOS_MOD

its a program to remove titles , channels , etc at its core. Very useful is used correctly however if you dont know what your doing or remove a pivotal item from your wii it could brick instantly. so use with caution.

as for larrys guide you have to look for it here. I have reposted the guide like 5 times for other people and im not going to do it again. It has become repetitive for me so sorry. Im sure if you ask around here someone will give you the full guide. He posted two guides one on softmodding the wii and one specifically on usbloading. If not go to gbatemp and search wbfs or usb loader there are more guides there.

Thanks for the link to Larry's guide! Is it for softmodding or Config. USB Loader? Do I need to softmod my wii if it's hardmodded with WiiKey2? or can I just use the Config. USB Loader to play ISO's from my External Hard Drive? Sorry for all the ?'s but that's why I started a thread with peeps that already know this. I've read up on several different threads in which are taking me in the wrong direction.

OK. Below is Larry's softmod/USB config. instructions. Where do I start for the USB config. part. It's a little confusing. Do I have to upgrade my firmware to 4.2 from 3.4? So many questions so little time. Thanks.

THINGS YOU NEED:

WII SYSTEM WITH 4.2 FIRMWARE: Update to 4.2 firmware if you are on 4.1 or below (including already softmodded systems).
WARNING: If you get any type of error message after updating then run the update again. Even if the system says you are on 4.2 firmware.

SD CARD: An EMPTY 1GB/2GB formated FAT32 SD Card (Do not use a Micro-SD card with Adapter).

WIFI:

DISCONNECT (VERY IMPORTANT): any Game Cube controller, Game Cube Memory Card and USB Device from the Wii system.

==============================================================

SD CARD PREPARATION:

Download this SOFTMODPACK HERE

Mirror Link HERE

Extract the SOFTMOD PACK to your PC.

Now Extract the "EXTRACT TO SD CARD" file to your SD Card.

Due to copyright issues I am not including official Nintendo IOS files in the softmod pack. The steps below will show you how to download them using your PC.

Start NUS Downloader (it is included in the SOFTMOD PACK). Make sure Microsoft .NET Framework has been installed on your PC.

Tick the Box for -- Pack-> WAD

Now go to Database>IOS>IOS15>v257

Then select Start NUS Download.

Follow the above steps for the following IOS files...

Now go to Database>IOS>IOS15>v523

Then select Start NUS Download.

Now go to Database>IOS>IOS36>v3351

Then select Start NUS Download.

Now go to Database>IOS>IOS38>v3610

Then select Start NUS Download.

After you have finished downloading the above files you will see NUS has created 4 folders. Each folder will contain a WAD file you need to transfer to the root of the SD Card.

Transfer the following WAD files to the root of the SD Card...

IOS15-64-v257.wad
IOS15-64-v523.wad
IOS36-64-v3351.wad
IOS38-64-v3610.wad

WARNING: If you have to rename the WAD files to match the above then you are doing something wrong. You should not have to rename the WAD files.

Your SD Card should now look like the below image...

==============================================================

HBC & BOOTMII INSTALL:

This section will install Homebrew Channel & Bootmii to your Wii System.

Put the SD Card in the Wii System at this time.

Now select the SD Card Icon which is below the Wii Channel Menu.

You will get a message saying "Load Boot dol/elf?" Select YES.

This will start the Hackmii installer.

Press 1 to continue at the warning screen.

Select Continue again at the page that shows what can and can not be installed.

At the main menu go up to Install Homebrew Channel and Press A.

Follow the prompts to install HBC.

After it says success select continue again.

Now go down to Bootmii and Press A.

Try to install Bootmii as Boot2 first. If it will not let you install it as Boot2 then install it as an IOS.

If you get a "no vulnerable IOS" error message go HERE and follow this guide. Then come back and follow this section again.

BACK UP NAND (BOOTMII):

DO NOT FORGET TO DISSCONNECT THE GAME CUBE CONTROLER AFTER YOU BACKUP YOUR NAND!

Bootmii as Boot2 will boot menu when Wii is turned on. Navigate using a Gamecube Controller or Power Reset.

Bootmii as IOS will boot from Homebrew Channel Home screen. Navigate using Game Cube Controller. If you do not have a Game Cube Controller then try using eject/reset buttons to navigate the Bootmii menu. (if the eject/rest button does not navigate the menu then you will need a Gamecube Controller).
