As title: I want to play a genuine Japanese game on a USA Wii console with firmware4.3.
What is the best method to achieve this?
(ie. easiest setup, least software to download/buy, least likely to brick, etc.)
What I have:
- Taiko no Tatsujin Wii (Japanese, the game to be played)
- Wii console with firmware ver. 4.3
- Freeloader for Wii
Graditudes to the best method suggestion in advance!
The freeloader was blocked in firmware AGES ago, so that wont help you. And modchips are useless for playing import games if you're on firmware 4.2 or higher.
So your only option is softmodding. Follow any of the 4.3 softmod guides and then play the game with a homebrew program called neogamma. All the software is free and the only hardware you'll need is an SD card.
You don't have to softmod, you could use The Smash Stack or Indiana Pwns exploits to load GeckoOS & launch your game, however this method isn't very practical or convenient, but it is one that doesn't require softmodding. You will need an SD card for this method also.
I've never tried this method myself yet, but since GeckoOS is only used to launch original imports, not backup ones, cIOS aren't needed, I've seen this method being used to launch Super Smash Bros Brawl with hacks/codes in place on a unmodded wii.
