Playing PAL version games on NTSC wii

My wife recently accidentally bought a PAL version of a game for our wii in NA. Ive not modded our wii, but I'm thinking hard about doing so because I think it will allow us to play that game; and of course the many other capabilities a Modded system will allow.

Before undertaking this potentially irreversible change, I wanted to ask this question specifically to see if I'm correct.

yes, it is possible. i have tried the leaked PAL version of new super mario bros wii before buying the NTSC version, and it worked on configurable usb loader with no problems.
