I'm running USB Loader GX on a 4.0 firmware Wii. I'm wondering if there's a way around the disc channel requiring me to update to 4.1. I bought the game to play it but I don't want to botch my system in the process. Is there another way to boot retail games without them having to update the firmware?

Any advice? Thanks!

Well I opened it up and put it into the system and it played right through the channel. It didn't ask to update to 4.1u. Kind of odd I figure but I'm playing and that's all I'm concerned about.

Thanks for the response.

I'm no expert at these things but can't you use Wii Scrubber to scrub out the update

OR

update to 4.1 with that thread here thats here thats about updating to 4.1 with only the good files and none of the bad ones.

i'm on 4.1 via that route- although i havent had a chance to try metroid yet (gonna do that late tonight; i'll post back with results)

I may be confused, but can't you just toss preloader on and turn off the check for updates?

Thanks and have a nice day

From what I've read scrubbing this game messes it up, so that's not an option.

Also, I don't mean to hijack the thread but has anyone tried burning this yet? I've heard weird issues with the layerbreak.
