Hi,
I think this should be my last question... After following the guide, I tried to play Animal Crossing through the disc channel with my retail copy and it had an update pop up (I'm sure it was because of the IOS downgrader.)
Anyway, I took the chance and updated and everything seems to be working fine. Would there be any risk in performing the disc channel update when I buy Punch Out?
Thanks

Thanks Freitag,
Was everything fine after just updating with Animal Crossing though?
I'm not using the backup channel, I just use usb loader GX... Does usb loader GX still work ok?
Thanks

Try installing cIOS38_rev12 and the IOS60patch again.

Followed everything in the original post except the IOS Downgrader/Gamecube Support parts.
Quote: Wii USB Hardware devices and Guitar Hero instruments should now work.
Just wanted to say that the above quote is not true--or at least not for me. My Rock Band 2 peripherals do not work work when using the Backup Launcher.
Anyone else have the same problem?
Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Hi, i have followed the guides skiping the usb loader part at the end.
i can run backups using the backup channel but not by using the disc channel. The game banner is displayed in the disk channel but when i click start i get the message
"An error has occurred. Press the Eject Button, remove the disc, and turn power off. Please read the Wii operations manual for more information"
also when i click the B button in Gamma to reboot with hooks i get the message
"Rebooting With Hooks
Error Loading Menu"
I have gone over all the steps and i cant find out whats causing this. i would appreciate any help with getting this to work so i can launch backups from the disc channel.
Cheers

Make sure you format the SD Card before transfering the files from the linked guide to the SD card.
@pixelhub
You can not launch the game via disc channel unless you reboot with hooks. Even then this is pointless since you have to do that each time you boot a backup game.
So just use the WiiGator Backup Launcher.

I don't have Guitar Hero or Rock Band so I can't give you an answer. I can only say that the cIOS38_rev12 is supposed to fix those issue. Maybe there is an IOS that needs to be installed for the instruments to work and you haven't installed it? I can only guess at what it might be.

Eekie mine was fine but i dont use the gx loader so im not quite sure if it affected that.
i am wondering.. can i just do the whole process over again starting from "downgraderIOS35.dol" and just do everything again on top of the messed up thing i have right now?
will that work/will it just fuck up my system even more?
or if you have any other suggestions. (i already tried reinstallig Backup channel.)

I have no idea what could be wrong. If cIOS38_rev12 installed without any error then the loader should work. have you tried uninstalling WiiGator and reinstalling it?

well i still have had no luck. thanks for tryin to help.
i did the whole process again on top of my messed up soft mod but still had same ending result.
i guess ill just have to keep searchin for the answer.
One last question though, if i want to totally remove the custom IOS things ive installed in this soft mod how do i do it.
(just point me to a forum that tells me what to do)
i think that maybe if i compleely make my wii a virgin again and do the soft mod again it will work.

Try 1 more thing.
Uninstall the BUL3g.wad file again.
Now download this wad file HERE.
Extract it and install it using WAD manager.
Now try the new WiiGator Loader in the Wii menu.

Hi Freitag,
I hope you have luck with your problem... After updating to 4.0 and performing Larry's guide I had to update to play Animal Crossing through the disc channel and USB Loader GX works fine with no problems...
Does anyone know if there'll be issues down the road?

ios 249 doesnt come up, only 36, 38 a whole bunch of others, and 254.

Larry, thanks for a wonderful guide! I have softmodded my Wii although the backupchannel didn't really work. I get a black screen about 50% of the time I try to load the channel (not a disc, just the channel). When the channel loads, my discs give me a DVD read error.
So, I decided to go USB, which loads my backups great! I have one problem with it: it doesn't seem to write it's config files! When I do anything in the menu, pressing 'back' does nothing. I have to manually reset my Wii to get in again. I saw you suggested to someone to delete the 'config' folder on the SD-card, but there isn't any! When I try to manually create a (empty) config folder, USB loader gives me codedumps when I press the menu back-button or try to load a game.
So I'm happy because I can play my games, but would like to know if there is a known solution for the above (USBloader) problem. So I can unlock it, would be nice! Thanks!
