Im sure the main consensus out there with all us wiikey users is that we hardmodded for a reason. We dont want to install foreign software onto our wiis.

I have a wiikey 1 1.9s with 4.2U wii NTSC and im able to play the game for about 5-10 min before getting a disc error. Ive tried patching the game with the AP fix and this just causes the wii to throw up and error when it tries to load the game in the disc channel.

Please anyone that has a wiikey 1 or 2 post here if you had luck getting New Super Mario Bros Wii working on your system.

I've got the same error dsab. Unpatched game crashes randomly, patched disk crashes the console.

I didnt hardmod for the same reason as you though. I like homebrew. I installed my modchip back when the wiikey first came out and wii homebrew didn't exist yet.

So I have homebrew channel the USB loader and I've just bypassed the problem that way.

If this is a wiikey 1 problem then it's going to be up to the wiikey team to make a new firmware, which might take awhile.

I couldn't get this to work through USB loaders on 3.2U or some version like that. So I burned it and used NeoGamma, worked fine, but now if I finish World 1-1, the game will give me the same error! FFS!

How can we fix this?

for every wii its different so i dont know whats up with all of yours. When I backed up my game I patched it and wii scrubed the updated partition. Im running a wiikey v1 on 4.1U and its running smbw just fine. I also got homebrew and neo gamma beta 8 but I am running it on the disc loader just fine. Got it running on usb loader as well but no point in having it run on that when i got the disk. My wii is a first generation wii.

Have Wiikey v1 w/ 1.9s and 4.2U (no homebrew or other mods)
NSMB disc gives an instant black-screen error when inserted.
First game to ever give me a problem

Install the softmod and use Neogamma 8 beta R15 with .wip-Patches in SD:/NeoGamma/ folder
Works great for me on unpatched ISO of NSMB

Or wait too see if and when Wiikey issues an updated firmware.

There is nothing wrong with having a modchip and a softmod.

I have wiikey 1 - 1.9s

I ripped a copy of the game myself and just burned the iso as is. I updated from the game to 4.1u. The burned copy worked, but froze after about 5 minutes of play. All my other games still worked after the 4.1.

But I wanted to play it bad. So I finally decided to softmod, using the guide on here. Updated online to 4.2U, followed all the instructions. It still froze, until I searched around a little bit. I found that using Neo Gamma R8 Beta 15 instead of NeoGamma 7 suggested in the softmod guide, I was able to play NSMB with no problems.

NeoGammaR8beta15.zip

Just copy the wad and Neogamma files into the root of your SD card and install.
