Hey guys/gals I have successfully softmodded my friends wii to Boot games off a USB hdd no problem like I have done for mine, but I'm having two issues that I have searched all over to try and find answers to but can't seem to find. First off it does not boot back ups, eventho I know that I scrubbed them properly, the second is that I cannot get preloader to run.. I have tried both putting it into the apps folder on my sd card and booting thru HBC and by putting the boot.dol into the root of the SD and trying that way thru the SD channel. FYI I'm running 3.4 on this one. (he has no internet at home and no need for SDHC) What I get with preloader is it boots into the first screen with the warning, and my wiimote stays connected but it won't move beyond that, I have tried different versions d.l. from different sources and always the same issue.
why don't you try d.l the 4.1 updater and update your wii to 4.1 from homebrew channel.once on 4.1,you can then follow pryme_h's guide on installing priiloader which is the new version of preloader.

The Wii might have the D3-2 Drive, one that can't play backups. The only other option is a USB loader. As far as Preloader, is it actually installed or are you in the process of installing it?
