I modded my landlords wii the other day. Everything went smooth the first time. I had no problems at all. Homebrew and neogamma was working as expected when I gave it to him. Today he called to tell me it wasnt working. When I launch neogamma I get a black screen. Im assuming I should try and reload neogamma, but this is only the 2nd wii I have modded and just wanted some advice before I do anything. Do I have to uninstall the neogamma thats on there before I reload it? Is there any way to check to see if I did anything incorrectly? If I cant get it working can I reset the wii to how it was before I modded it? He is rather pissed off at me and I need to get this working or I have to buy him a new wii. Thanks for the help.

Update) when i try to load the SD card in wad manager it locks up. It says mounting device but it never does and stops responding. My landlord has kids and they are the ones who play with the wii. I told them not to launch the homebrew channel or do a system update. I checked the firmware version and it is still 4.2u. But Im wondering if they could have been messing around in the homebrew channel and messed something up. Is there any way to check to see if everything is as it should be?

first of all its called softmoding not modding. Secondly your landlord is a dushe. Why would you need to buy him a new wii as all you did was install neogama. His wii shud still play normal original dvds. Tell him to stop being a wank or else you will just delete all the softmoding and leave it as it was. Seriously some people have no idea how to be thankful.
Thirdly I think it was the stupid kids that F-up the wii. I recon they have done something to it and stuff it up. I mean neogama won`t stop working unless...
1. You have deleted the files on the SD card that makes it run.
2. Updated the wii`s firmware.
3. Have completely messed up with the defaults.

What I usually did when installing things on people wii (because we all know some people are idiots or have idiotic kids) I used to use wads and install a Channel of the program so all the needed to do was start the wii, put in the game and click on the channel launcher. They didnt need to go into homebrew or stuff around with the SD card.

What I would do is insert the SD card back to your computer and copy all the files back into it again (like a fresh new copy) because maybe the kids did something to it like I said.
Then put the SD card back on the wii and check to see if it works.
Also check the back of the wii that the hardrive is set on the first USB port not the second one.
What it seems to me is that some of the files to start neogama are missing thats why it doesn`t load the Hardrive or program.
Anyways give that a try. Also I would recomment to do a hard reset....meaning unplug everything from the wii (cables and all) also unplug it from the main power source so you will have no electricity going into the wii. Wait for about 1 hr (most people say 15 mins but I give it longer and then plug it back in and see if that works. You`ll be amazed what a simple thing like this can fix.

If that doesn`t work I suggest you uninstall everything and start from scratch. And on the second run do what I said and install a channel so the kids won`t screw it up again.
Hope this helps ^ ~

I have to agree with you, I think the kids did something. Neogamma was working good when I gave it to him. I even showed them it works and how to use it before I left. I did install the neogamma wad so the kids did not have the SD card and should not have been in homebrew for any reason. I already formatted the SD and dumped the app and wad folder back on there to try and reload neogamma. But when I launch the wad manager it wont load the SD at all. So Im not sure how Im gonna reload neogamma. I just unplugged all connections from the wii like to recommended. I will wait an hour before I plug it back up. If neogamma still doesnt launch, and I cant load the SD from the wad manager, what should I do? Is it OK for me to repeat the steps I did to softmod it? I wasnt sure if I could or if I had to uninstall everything I did first. Is there a way to reset this back to factory if I cant get it working?

Thanks again for the help, I am desperate to get this working again. My landlord is an older guy and he's kinda technology illiterate. He doesnt really understand what I did. I had to convince him to let me do this. He was telling me how he spends a fortune on the games and I was just trying to help him out. But now with it not working properly this has kinda causing tension between us. He thinks I broke it.

I would suggest you try finding a new version of WAD manager and installing that.
Then once you have that working get the WAD that you installed and un-install the old Wad manager. This shud fix your problem.

If you want to downgrade here is a link video of how to do it step by step. Though I doubt it you would have to do this..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeP750dbLR8

I recommend trying to fix it by doing the steps I have told you about before.

Here is a link for the new wad manager video.
Under the info click on the arrows and it will give you the links for the DOL and the WAD to install the new wad manager.

Hope this helps.

Oh yeh also..... why does he say it doesn`t work??
Can he still play original games?? can he use his wii the normal way, does it crash on him or have any bugs?? If the answer is that all is fine just the neogamma doesn`t work I would tell him to fuck off as what you did does not do anything bad to his wii it`s just that it doesn`t let him play pirated games anymore. Tell him to stop being a loser and his wii is perfectly fine and that his kids f-up the modification and if it happens again you will just delete all of this and have it back to only playing original as it is a waste of your time because his kids are too stupid to pay attention on how to use the program and like to stuff around with the settings.
If I were u as nice as I like to be I would have never done it for them or if If I did I would have driven it to his brain that if his kids screw it up I will try to fix it one time but after that no.
People sometimes are so stubborn even when someone is trying to be nice to them, for next time just let them waste their money as you will have problems when trying to help someone.

Will WAD manager load at all?

When does it freeze?

What IOS are you using to run WAD Manager (if your trying IOS249 then try reinstall the cIOS)?

Did you install Bootmii and make a backup of the NAND before softmodding?

I would try restoring the NAND before downgrading the Wii system. If you didn't install Bootmii and make a backup of the NAND then that was your first mistake.

Try to load neogamma from the homebrew channel. I assume you installed neogamma as a channel since you used a wad file to install neogamma. So, download the neogamma app that goes into your apps folder on your sd card. Go into the homebrew channel then select the neogamma app. See if that works.

If you are gonna be soft modding for other people you should install bootmii and make a backup of their nand. That way you can always reinstall the nand file to get back to the way it was before. And always remove the wad manager from homebrew channel so no kids can install things to the wii accidentally. Basically the only things I would leave in the homebrew apps is the playable apps that can't install anything to the wii. You can always put those apps back into the homebrew when needed.

Did you even read what I posted!?!?!

In order to get it back to before you softmodded it you have to downgrade (which will be to put it back to firmware 4.2 - As if it was just bought) so ofcourse it has to be downgraded. All this does is installs all the firmware to 4.2, it is also used to downgrade.

I also explained how to change wad manager but you don`t seem to like to read or understand at all.
I said..... Install the new wad manager then you will be able to use wad manager 1.7 now un-install the old wad manager 1.4. I never said you will have to upgrade....

And what suy-co said is true... I explained that as well to do a backup before you softmod but for you it`s too late as you have already softmoded and the kida have screwed around with the whole thing.

@Suy-co oviously you don`t read as well lol....he has already said that neogama doesnt load at all.... and he cant get Wad Manager to work either....so best thing to do is install the new Wad manager )seeing how he can still use homebrew channel) then after that load up the New Wad Manager and uninstall the old Wad manager.

Simple.

Well, he said he installed neogamma with a "wad" file. That could only mean he installed neogamma as a channel or used a forwarder channel. So instead of trying to boot neogamma from a channel, then why not boot from the homebrew channel and see if that works. And maybe try another sd card. Make sure its formatted to fat32 and it's not write protected with a switch on the side of the sd card. If you used a forwarder channel then the sd card must be in the wii for neogamma to work. As the app is on the sd card, unlike an actual channel where the app is on the wii.

(this is why I am telling him to uninstall everything and start again)
Instead of him wasting his time it`s best if he deletes everything and starts from scratch. Who knows what the kids have done to Neogama or anything else.
He can waste his time trying to figure out what is wrong (if the wii was his) but as you can see the dushe bag of a landlord is on his case, so best thing to do is uninstall everything and then do a clean install.

Seriously, if you rush somebody who doesn't know exactly what he is doing then he is gonna make mistakes. There hasn't been enough clear information given and it seems he has gone a.w.o.l on his own thread. 4.2 wii menu is tricky and more so for a new guy. I don't even touch 4.2 menu. I go no farther than 3.2 menu and don't see any need to go any higher. I don't need sdhc capability and as long as all games run on 3.2 I see no need to go past it.

@ninja834- You really should have just modded his wii to 3.2 menu and installed bootmii and called it a day. And if you are still trying to uninstall wad manager, there is no reason to uninstall the wad manager. You can have 2 wad managers on your wii. Just like you can have 2 usb loaders, etc.. You would put the wad manger app in the homebrew apps folder on the sd card. Then run it from the homebrew channel. Select the right wad manager and see if it works.
