Problems with softmoded 3.2u and 4.2u

Ok so with my 3.2u wii i've played and beating new super mario brothers but now when i put it in it says i need to system update. Also my wii remotes always unsync and the i have to get my gamecube controller to get me to the system menu before my controllers will sync again.

With my brothers 4.2u wii when he goes to shut it off the screen on the tv shuts off but the green light stays on on his wii.

Anyone know how to fix these problems?
