Been seeing lots of these "scrubbed" wii games, quality doesnt seem to be very good. Twilight Princess is a 4gb ISO but after WBFS manager its only 1gb. I read only useless information is removed but I dont see how 3gb of a 4gb ISO is useless. Thinking about getting some retail games to compare the quality. Was wondering what other people think about the quality of scrubbed games.

SCrubbed games are exactly the same quality as standard size games,As it is only extra padding that is removed from the disc.

Is there anything else that might effect quality? Maybe the way a game is ripped? Or playing PAL games on NTSC console? I noticed some settings in neogamma that force NTSC/PAL 480i/480p, I played with them didnt notice any difference. The only reason I ask is cause the graphics dont look right, something seems wrong. Twilight Princess looks horrible, I put in retail disc of zelda master quest for gamecube and it looks way better. And there are strange black lines that appear to go through mario in New Mario Bros. Ive never played a Wii and Im used to PC graphics, trying to determine if there is a problem or if it just really looks that bad.

It depends on your TV and what cables you're using. If you have the RCA cables then the picture is interlaced and you'll have lines. This probably won't be as noticeable with a N64 game because the textures are very low-resolution.

With component cables and an HDTV there shouldn't be interlacing lines, but you need to remember that it is still only a 480p image and won't compare to the graphical quality of a PC game, which is often running at 1080p or better.

Im using component w/ 52 Samsung LCD. Im wondering if my TV makes it look even worse. Are these games made for 16:9 aspect ratio? Maybe the picture is getting stretched out. I stuck another retail gamecube game in my wii for comparison. Retail Metroid Prime for GC looks better than scrubbed Metroid Prime 3 for Wii. I understand the Wii is not a power house but I would think that the graphics would be as good or better, but not worse. That Zelda Master Quest for GC was originally for N64 and even that looks better than Twilight Princess. Im thinking its more than crusty graphics I think there is a problem somewhere.

Most wii games can support 16:9 resolution, so it shouldn't be stretching the image out.

The larger your TV is then the worse the graphics will look, but there should still be no difference between retail and copied games. I have a 32" LCD and can see no difference in quality between retail and backup wii games or games run via a USB loader.

I've also done comparisons between retail metroid prime 3 and a backup copy, and between retail 1 and 2 and metroid prime trilogy on the USB loader. Aside from a few minor differences between the wii and GC versions of prime 1 and 2 I could discern no difference.
