I've got a Soft Modded Wii with version 4.2U. I'd just like to know if Wii's can even read and run DVD+R DL's?

I have 3 copies of Brawl. My first copy is the original Brawl, my second copy is brawl compressed into 4.38 gigs and it's English .brsar swapped with the Japanese .brsar. It works perfectly but the load times are irritating and brawl+ doesn't work with dvd5. My third copy is 7.92 gigs which I assume is DVD9. Before burning it with image burn with a layer break of 2084960 at 1x on a Verbatim DVD+R DL, I swapped out the English brsar with the Japanese brsar and removed the update partition. With Neogamma and Gecko, I get "DVD READ Errors". I don't have a mod chip by the way, I soft modded it and downloaded homebrew.

I've read that some people are successful at playing brawl dvd9, so without a doubt Wii CAN read Dual layer DVD disks correct? Any help or input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know if this helps but some loaders don't have Dual-Layer support, & also if you make any Dual-Layer disc backups, it should be on a DVD-R DL, not DVD+R DL

Wiikey 2 supports Dual-Layer discs, however wiis do not usually accept DVD+R anyway, you're much better off using a DVD-R DL & burning the iso at full size, since if you shrink it the disc becomes fakesigned.

There is a single layer version of brawl around online if you look for it. Subspace emmisary mode doesn't work because the cutscenes are missing, but basic multiplayer mode and online play work fine and you can burn it just like any basic single layer wii game.
