I couldn't find any topic specific my situation...
I recently got a Mod Chipped Wii and a bunch of burned games.
They don't remember what ModChip was used and two of the screws are too damaged for me to even open it up.
It is currently on 4.3 Update, but I have no idea which 4.3 update.
Basically I cannot access the Internet channel or any other Nintendo channel without updating, so I won't be able to sofmod(or am I wrong?)
Burned games all work and I tested some "real games," they worked as well.
Of course you can softmod without updating. Get modmii (google) run it on a pc with internet and a 1 or 2gb SD card attached (if attached it will install it directly to the card, 1 or 2 GB have better compatibility with some of the programs than a 4gb or over), answer the questions and it will install everything you need (and give you a guide) to softmod the wii

Looks like Nintendo released several updates named "4.3" (which is the latest AFAIK), perhaps they are 4.3.0, 4.3.1, 4.3.2, but I digress. What's important is that the Letterbomb exploit should work with all these variants of "4.3", so yes, even after you update, you should still be able to softmod the Wii.
