My Situation:
So far I have successfully installed HBC, backup loader .3g and some other backup launcher program on my Wii system 4.1U using the procedure on the following link

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cAArNkfJ_U

I used the backup loader 3g (I hold 1 after pressing start and I force NTSC)to play my backups. I haven't tried any JAP backups yet. But the Mario Kart I iso I used came from PAL. Also When loading my games Ive found that sometimes it'll give the Disc read error that refers to the manual in the beginning tho(fixed). Ive tested my shop channel, vote channel and other internet related channels and they all seem to still work

My etc. questions(main point)

1)Since my Mario Kart Rom is Pal Can I assume that JAP backups will work as well?

2)What can and can't I do now that I've done this procedure?(mainly refers to if I can still buy new games that come out in my Region, Play Wi-fi,etc)

3) Ive heard that some ppl have been able to update their Wiis after doing this procedure? Is it still possible in the future?

4) If I were to get rid of the added channels could I update again? If not then at what point was the point of no return?

5) Since Im using Loader 3g and not the Launcher can I delete Launcher from my Wii system mem?

6)From this point is it still possible for my Wii to get bricked?

7) Is the disc read error that I occured normal?( I mean it wasn't a bad burn If the game plays even though this error occurs only at the beginning of the load. I fix it by wiping down the underside of the Disc and I try again it seems to fix that way)

8) If at some point I want to add new apps for homebrew or use the SD card for other things such as carrying pictures, channels or saves what should I do?

9) Can my Wii have saves from different regions and not corrupt any data or do any other malicious activity(lets say I use copy of a japanese game and when I play the game saves a japanese save on my US Wii are there any affects to this)

Im sorry for having so many questions noob questions mostly but they are lingering thoughts that I just can't get rid of and Im hoping someone can shed some light on them

I also want to add that other than installing some software for playing import games directly I have no intention of going further than I already have

Yes, but you may have to do some tinkering around with your backup loader ( Which should be Neogamma as it is more updated)

2)What can and can't I do now that I've done this procedure?(mainly refers to if I can still buy new games that come out in my Region, Play Wi-fi,etc)
You can still play brand spanken new games onto your Wii,as well getting on Wii fi. It's the cheating that gets you banned.
3) Ive heard that some ppl have been able to update their Wiis after doing this procedure? Is it still possible in the future?
It depends, I alwayws do some research if it askes me to do some type of Update. More research the better.
4) If I were to get rid of the added channels could I update again? If not then at what point was the point of no return?
Getting rid of channels doesn't delete the hacks you did to the wii ( Well yea if you deleted homebrew but that would be stupid)
5) Since Im using Loader 3g and not the Launcher can I delete Launcher from my Wii system mem?
Infact why dont you delete loader 3g and download Neogama as it is more updated. And no, don't delete the official Wii loader if you want to play official games you should use the official loader.
6)From this point is it still possible for my Wii to get bricked?
Yup, from downloading bad .wads, to bad Themes, all the way to bad updates. Go ahead and make an NAND backup (check out the links in my sigs)
7) Is the disc read error that I occured normal?( I mean it wasn't a bad burn If the game plays even though this error occurs only at the beginning of the load. I fix it by wiping down the underside of the Disc and I try again it seems to fix that way)
Neogamma fixes that error 002 thing-a-bob thing...thingie
8) If at some point I want to add new apps for homebrew or use the SD card for other things such as carrying pictures, channels or saves what should I do?
I like to use one SD card for the hacks (which is channels or saves ect ect ) and the others for the photos
9) Can my Wii have saves from different regions and not corrupt any data or do any other malicious activity(lets say I use copy of a japanese game and when I play the game saves a japanese save on my US Wii are there any affects to this)
Yup , I downloaded Let's tap pal and I am using an NTSC and It was able to save without any problems....it's the updates that is deadly ( Use Preloader to skip the updates ...again in the sig)

Im sorry for having so many questions noob questions mostly but they are lingering thoughts that I just can't get rid of and Im hoping someone can shed some light on them
Hey I rather answer these questions then "Oh no I bricked type of questions"

1) Backup Launcher is old. Neogamma is new http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=158884
1A) to get the Neogamma Channel http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=165485
2) Superdump (Requires homebrew) dump your game in 30 minutes. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/780900
3) Make your Wii skip updates! Use preloader 0.29 and enable skip updates. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Preloader
4) Scared of Bricking your Wii? Make an NAND backup! Install BootMii http://bootmii.org/install/

It over whelming. My biggest fear is a Brick slowly get to where I want to be. Seem that there are so many options and thing that can be done. This one you need to update, that one you can't update, install this patch, Now that patch....

Are these patches just for the install of the app or required to run the app? Seems to me one app could render the last one unusable.

Backup Loaders only run at 3X speed instead of the normal 6X speed. So intro and cut-scenes can lag when using a backup loader.

If you don't like lag then get a USB Hard Drive and a USB Loader to load games from that. Using a USB Loader is actually faster then the normal 6X speed.

based on that comment about backup loaders only running at 3x time speed does the same thing hold true if you follow the steps in the how to launch backups from the disc channel?

So backups loaded through the disc channel also run at only 3x speed?

Yes because cIOSCorp (which lets you boot via disc channel) is still dependent on a cIOS and the cIOS is what has the 3X limitation.

larrylje,

I followed your guide to be able to boot backup games through the disc channel via Preloader and cIOSCorp. Prior to this, I already had a soft-modded system 4.1U. My question is: Is there any way I can boot PAL games using the disc channel? As of right now, I use either Neogamma or GeckoOS to force disc to NTSC to be able to play them. Thanks, by the way, for the great guide.
