Hi All,

A few months ago I ran Larry's "Disc Channel Hack" that allows it to launch backups via the disc channel. This was working well. I am now going to switch to use the USB Loader instead as I understand this will be quicker - and a bit more reliable (I occasionally get disc read errors on some backups).

As I understand it the hack required for the Disc Channel hack actually replaced (not patched) some of the IOSs. Now I am planning to switch to use USB rather than Discs I was thinking about "doing a tidy up" and re-setting the IOSs back to something more suitable so that any future updates are from a better baseline.

I would be greatful if anyone would be able to make some suggestions for how to do this. I am concerned about just running Larry's latest instructions over the top of what I have just in case it is not compatible - and hence thought I would ask first.

P.S. As this is my first post on the forum I'd like to thank Larry for the Mod instructions that I originally followed.

Thanks

Rob

The easiest way to get rid of CIOSCorp is to update the system menu. I would suggest using NUS Downloader to download System menu 4.1 firmware (Make sure you download the proper region for your system).

This will create a WAD file that you just install using WAD Manager.

This will update your system to 4.1 and over write all CIOSCorp files.

If you haven't installed the latest Bootmii or HBC then I would first update those then do a NAND backup (even if you did 1 previously) in case something goes wrong when updating to 4.1 firmware.

Thanks for the advice Larry, My system is currently:

PAL 4.1
Hackmii Installer Beta 3
Homebrew 1.0.3
NeoGamma R7
PreLoader 0.29
WadManager 1.4

So as I understand it I should:

<Using my existing USB image>
a) Use NUS Downloader.
Database...-> System -> System Menu -> v450 (4.1E)
Generate the wad
(So I guess CIOSCorp only hacks the System Menu?)
b) Take a backup of the system
c) Run the wad from Homebrew->WAD Manager
d) Take another backup

<Using the latest Larry SD Image>
e) Run through the instructions from "DOWNGRADE IOS15" onwards.
f) Take another backup
g) Start on the USBLOADER GX GUIDE

Sit back and be happy that I'm on the latest Larry Mod!

Larry I was just going to ask this very question. The main thing I'm wondering is, is it necessary to restore CIOSCorp to standard to follow your newest guide if you've already done the disc channel fix. I'm guessing maybe it's ok to perform the new guide over a Wii that had the Disc Channel CIOSCorp as it won't do anything to that but I didn't want to risk it without asking.

Thanks for your help Larry, did the update over the weekend and it went well.

Also took the oppotunity to update to "HackMii Installer v0.6" (i.e. HBC 1.0.6 and Bootmii b4).

Then re-installed preLoader at version 0.30r4

Just waiting for my hard drive now so that I can do the USB bit! :-)
