I have a Nintendo Wii that has a soldered Wiikey and is softmodded for Homebrew. I want to remove the Wiikey and the softmod. I caused some issues loading some backed up games when accidentally upgraded the Wii firmware. Will removing all mods return the Wii to the original (only plays original games) status?

The only way that upgrading from a backup game will damage the wii is if the backup game is from a different region and played via the modchip. Games played through softmod methods can not upgrade the wii.

Additionally, if your wii is upgraded to firmware 4.2 or later then it can't play out of region games through the modchip in the first place.

Anyway... If you update the wii online to 4.3 it will remove all the softmod and removing the modchip will return the wii to the non-modded status.
