Should I update my softmodded 3.0U Wii

I have a softmodded Wii running 3.0U firmware. I have Neogamma R7 rev14 and have much success playing my older games. Now I am wanting to get some of the newer games (Modern Warefare Reflex, Guitar Hero 5, etc.) and was wandering if there is any reason to update to 4.1 or 4.2 or would I be okay just running the proper IOSs.

Also, I use Brick Blocker on every ISO. Is it really necessary? Are some of the newer games requiring system updates? Thanks for any help.
